I have a very noisy neighbors!
Nothing seemed to help, all tho the sheriff or deputies (I guess) did shut him up for at least one night. The last time I spoke to him I hadn't had more than four hours of uninterrupted sleep and I was pissed we almost got in to a fight, and yes he's a young big kid that could kick my ass 6 ways to Sunday, but I was ready to go down swinging. I tolled him from now on as soon as it gets dark I'd be calling the sheriff's department.
So now he's sure to make a LOT of noise by way of his loud old p.o.s. truck, and super loud entertainment center, all before dark. It's very hard to think much less relax. The real strange part is I haven't heard any other neighbors complain and the landlord hasn't said a thing to me since I talked to him and he didn't seem all that worked up over it. The says to follow all county laws concerning noise levels. So I'm kinda screwed and no moving currently is not in the books for me just yet.
So really I just venting a bit to you guys I don't expect any super secret advice from anyone that will solve my problem. I sure after a couple of visits and tickets costing from $100-$600 that might help, because I'm sure he's gonna slip up some nights sooner or later.
What I do want to know is does anyone have any tips for dealing with the noise? Because I'm open to any and all suggestions.

In a twin, the props are only inches away from your ears and the "Beat frequency" at takeoff caused by the slight difference in prop speeds is a killer. With active noise cancelling headsets, you don' hear it (or that loud car base I would guess).
My personal favorite is the Lightspeed 20XL. They are fairly pricey, but a lot cheaper than your first payment to a lawyer after you lose it and go after the guy with your shotgun. Sometimes, you can buy them for about 60% of new reconditioned from lightspeed. They run off of two double A batteries for a long time.

Foam earplugs are another option.
When I was in college we had a very noisy upstairs neighbor who like to rock out at 2 AM after the bars closed from time to time. We fixed him by flipping his breaker switch in the laundry room. Took ony 5 or 6 times. The landlord was very slow and stoned by that time and took his sweet ass time.
I know your problem has moved on but keep those options open next time. Talk to your neighbors as well and get them to band together a bit. Strength in numbers. Or you could place a call to 'Blogger'

This is just an FYI. I neve knew there was such a thing as white noise generators, I dont remember how I stumbeled across them but here ya all go.
These are some white noise generators: www.white-noise.us/index.htm . I bought the www.marpac.com/soundscreen.asp and it's great! while it's dosent block out very loud noises it screen out most background noise. I also looked at a all digital system by sonet.
I really can't imagin sleeping with out my WNG on.
