For those of you who haven’t seen it, the first Spy Kids movie had a scene where the kid’s father reminds their mother (I think) that they keep their pasts secret from the kids to avoid giving them nightmares about their parents’ enemies targeting them, something that I imagine could easily apply to supers with children. Realistically, would it even be possible to keep a secret identity secret from your own children? I mean if they had powers that had already manifested that changes things, if only due to lack of plausible deniability, but on top of what I already mentioned, could a young child be relied on to keep that kind of secret? And if the same applies on the other side of the fence, what if a character’s first realization that their parents are supervillains comes when they get arrested?
