^^ What Ace said! I've been in one twice and it amazes me how "easy" the instructors fly around inside there with you. Mine could do a lot of the shit in the video like walking up the walls and stopping on a dime when flying. Really wild stuff. Thanks for posting!

As I recall, it was made from a DC 3 propeller, a 600 hp electric motor and a big grate. What really gets me is that most people wear a baggy flight suit which makes you look like Rocky the flying squirrel and she is in spandex.
I'm thinking that skin-tight Spandex flight suits only work on tall but very thin people, like the gymnast in the video. A frictional force (from the wind) versus weight issue.
The rest of us need more surface area to catch the wind to stay comfortably aloft. A bunch of oversized people beached on the lower grate isn't much fun.
But there is also Raa's argument, which is probably even more important for some of us. <grin>
Far more importantly, when are we going to see someone in there wearing a high quality Supergirl costume?

I suspect that capes would not be allowed in these things, for safety/liability reasons. Edna Mode did make some valid points!

Too bad... it would be great chance to watch someone perfect the use of capes and skirts in such a wind. Or fail epically while trying. Either way, very entertaining.
Perhaps some things are best left to our imagination. Still... seems like a lost opportunity. I'm betting Sarge's uniforms would do better than most. Although I doubt they came with a "won't blow off in flight" guarantee.

Could imagine a swarm of bottled up velorians in a tube doing warmups before the launch door opens and they fly out into battle. Supers could also (carefullly) generate laser light effects maybe wearing safety goggles to protect the wind tunnel
a wingsuit or cape would probably increase the weight limit for flyers. I think they are worried that any loose clothing or personal items would turn into Foreign Objects or Debris and damage the equipment.

Understand completely. Even without a cape, the billowing of a short skirt (with hands on hem to hold it more or less down) would create a huge amount of lift that would send them soaring. To avoid hitting the top, they'd have to release the skirt to spill the lift and let the hem rise over their waist as they fell to grab another "skirt-full" and soar upward again. <Sigh>
Obviously, I'm overthinking this. <grin>

Between: 8x8=64
And: 12x12=144
More than twice the force at 120 as there is at 80 mph.
Here is an idea. Let's start a go fund me site to see if we can get this gal to fly in one of Sarge's Supersuits.
