My first thought is that they have to be planning to set some of the action on ancient Krypton. Unless they are going to show that Superman is far older than Kara (with tweaks to origin stories, anything is possible), I would guess they will be depicting Lara and Jor El, given Kara's mother, Alura, is already cast. Or maybe Cain will be Kara's father, Zor El.
If it was me, I'd put Lara and Jor El together, and have them interact with their niece, a young teenage Kara, who is assigned the job of caring for young Kal on the new world they are flying to. And then something happens to Kara along the way (time warp) and she arrives on Earth younger in age than Kal.
I suspect the show might have the production rights to those characters even if they probably can't (or won't) bring Superman into the bright lights.

Hope this continues..
Slater after Supergirl devoloped into a pretty good soft spoken little actress, kind of an oposite of a Traditional star where her Bueaty made you pay attention whose was kind of modestly in the background. She hasn't really done a lot in 20 years but shes not bad.
Cain though lately has tended by his poltics to drift into conservative christians movies- always has a likable goofy charm- even in the couple of bad movies i have seen of his. I hope what ever role they gets to use this well.

But they could have a recurring role as the Danvers. That's a different kind of fan service.
Either way, I love it.

That's a possibility, although my guess is more that thay might be Kara's Kryptonian parents.

Right... that's why I was guessing the Jor El's. In any case, I doubt they are being hired for a recurring role (unless its very infrequent) given they are doing other work.
Smallville did a lot of guest appearances like this as well.

I stand corrected then.

If there's one thing I have to give credit to almost every production team working on a DC IP ever snce Batmn the Animated Series is that they know how to plan cameos and actor allusion moments.
