This isn't a late entry to the contest, actually wrote after i read all the entries-

There were a lot of dark stories(which i am guilty of writing for it) but wanted to inspire a light one for it.

Hope people like it-curious if any comment.

I really liked this.

One of the best of Superman's powers is Hope. I think the Supergirl TV show is doing a pretty good job of showing that it's also Kara's best Superpower.

But what's great here is that it shows what goes on inside Ultra too. This is a two way effect, of them both affecting the other. I'm a huge fan of the marvel concept of Spider-Man. Getting powers doesn't make your life super-awesome, in fact, it probably just makes everything harder. Ultra seems to suffer from this a bit. She's a hero as she can be and feels she should be (the Great Power stuff), but it leaves her feeling isolated and lonely, and more like a tool than a human being. Despite all that she seems to have hope.

It's always better when the superhero is a human being.

I also like the idea (as it's true in the real world) of two people in a chance meeting, having a life long effect on the other, despite only a short interaction. I'm glad the story didn't go on with a lifelong friendship/frenemy/etc relationship.

I think sometimes stories (written/movies/tv) want to wrap things up, and use all sorts of literary tricks. The Joker was really that guy who shot your parents in the alley! Life isn't always clean and neat, so stories don't have to be either. You don't always find out what happened to that Russain hit man who ran away in the woods. So I really like that this story didn't do that.

It's also nice to see a positive story, even if the people in it seemed a bit sad. The encounter in the story seemed to give them both hope.

Thanks for the words.

My idea was that Ultra wasn't so much unhappy or sad normally, but that this takes her out of her comfort level.

One idea that i do like from Superman is that for him, fighting bad guys and lifting trucks is easy-its the things around it-fame, deicisions people in real need-is hard. I do think when done well thats an intresting concept of just people trying to do the impossible while still having some function of there humanity.

Will say this-if i ever get a chance to write a script for Supergirl, i may try Rewriting some of this there :)
