Donations
I'm writing to all of you to seek some of your hard earned money to help keep this site going, SWM in its various guises is now celebrating its 20th year, it shocked me as well to think that this site is almost as old as the internet and over the years we have moved hosts as some of you know we are on a VPS server that costs $30 per month. Lfan has asked me to ask you to help in the upkeep of those costs. We are unique in that we don't use advertising to pick up the costs nor do we have a subscription model (otherwise known as a paywall) we offer all the content of this site for free and all we ask is a small donation every now and then to cover the costs.
We have around 1100 members who visit the site each and every day, not all of them are active in posting or writing, but all of them get some enjoyment from the site, if everyone gave just $1 today we would have the hosting costs covered for 3 years and a little left over to pay for some software for the site.
So please help us keep this site going for another 20 years.

While I've contributed monetarily in the past, I must confess that I've lost this matter out of sight recently. Dispatching a couple of bucks your way right now, no sweat.
PS: Sorry, but please provide for some means of payment other than paypal. I've steered clear of this shit for 25 years and was right about to break my cardinal rule just once, but (luckily) I couldn't select any donation amount other than USD 5.00 and they required me to drop my pants on top of it. Thanks, but no thanks.
PPS: "The link you have used to enter the PayPal system contains an incorrectly formatted item amount." I'm obviously doing something wrong (again) which other people do right. Still, as I think you're operating an UK-based website, IBAN would just work fine for me.

That thermometer looks like it's well on its way! I hope it reaches the top before that superwoman slams into it...

As I keep meaning to donate regularly, but then I forget, and have no idea how long it's been. I guess I should just set a calendar reminder on my computer...
Patreon is good for a monthly fee from people. It's also a bit of advertising (but not much). In that people can discover the site from there. I HAVE found artists and webcomics to support via Patreon, though honestly mostly via looking at what a person or creator is supporting and then following those thorugh and going "hey that looks cool").
I support a lot of people on Patreon, might be time for me to review the list though. I'm ambivalent between the two ... patreon I'd sign up for some low level monthly support, and it'd be a constant stream. It's also a good way to remind us "Monthly costs = $X" and to try to get to that level of monthy funding.

I also like ToT's idea, because speaking for myself, I've really lost this out of sight.
Anyways, all fine now.

I'm currently looking at alternatives to the PayPal system for funding this site, partreon is one as well as kickstarter and other cloud funding systems.
Again n thank you to all that donated.
