When I saw that image a few years ago, my brain went Ka Ching -- now that's a Velorian in all her genetically-engineered excess. Rachel dresses like one too.

So, of course, I had to improve on nature a little more, as follows:

This  is an old photoshop....

"Sometimes a girl just has to roll down her top and soak up a few million amps."

The colors say Kryptonian, but soaking up power like that is more Velorian'esq. What with glowing boobs and all.

Test 21: Demonstration of 3-phase AC power absorption by a Velorian.

As reported by Dr. Jack Jones, NASA XenoAdaptation Team, supervising Electrical Engineer:

With her bared hands gripping Phase 1 and 2 wires, and with Phase 3 held between her bare legs, the summation of currents converged at her geometric center. Roughly 86% of the 100 Megawatts delivered was then converted to Orgone energy leading to an increase in energy storage volume. This expansion caused an immediate failure of the metal clasps of her otherwise insulated latex outfit.

It was further observed that stray high-voltage sparks, which carried significant current, struck her eye and mouth, but did not cause her to blink or otherwise show discomfort..

Conclusion: The test subject is not only completely invulnerable to megavolt-level electrical currents, but appears to store the majority of the power that was delivered for future use.

Recommendation: Suitable recharging stations using local high-tension power line feeds should be established to support the needs of Velorian visitors to Earth. whose presence will vastly increase Earth's defense capabilities against hostile alien attacks. Maximum use of such chargers should be encouraged.

That last Velorian is a bit more ripped then normal, at least from what I can see of her arms shoulders and neck.

Test 27: Determination of muscular strength of Velorian subject.

As reported by Dr. Phillip Arrows, NASA XenoAdaptation Team, supervising physiology consultant:

Subject was provided with a meter-long by 5 centimeter thick hardened steel alloy CR2301 stock bar with a tensile strength of 60,000 kilograms.
She proceded to bend it in several places before straigtening it back out and then bending it in half to double its thickness. She then bent the doubled bar completely in half.

The subject displayed significant muscular definition during the test, far greater than expected given her slender build, but did not seem to be straining, even when bending  the doubled bar, which  required approximately 120,000 kilograms of pressure (given the lack of mechanical advantage given the length and specified grip on the bar).

CONCLUSION: The test setup was signficantly below requirements to determine the upper end of Velorian strength, and no new knowledge was gained about Velorian strength.

RECOMMENDATIONS: Rerun the test with a 12, 16 and 20 centimeter thick high-tensile bars, with the upper limit of the largest test article's tensile strength exceeding 300,000 kilograms.

In the meantime, it is recommended that no one attempt to challenge a Velorian's strength by any means given that we have seen no evidence of their upper limits, which may prove challenging for this team to discover.

Since considerable energy is used by this charging process,  a  study should be done to determine the most efficient charge rate and waveform to reduce waste energy radiated from subject during charging.     A controlled charging process is needed for maximum safety of all employees and prevent damage to our energy infrastructure,  If the subject were to suddenly choose to disconnect during high rate charging, very powerful arcs would likely result likely melting the charging station, and cause stress to the power grid..   It may be possible to adjust charge rate based on radiated heat remote lidar volume estimates of subjects energy storage units.     Test markers worn by subject with known melting point could also be used state of charge.   If appropriate materials are found,  Castings formed on the subject during charge could be a valuable record of the process, and possible sources of additional funding if sold to interested parties..

I think it would be a wonderful research subject. There is no doubt that using standard AC power distribution lines is extremely wasteful given the extreme amounts of stray heat and spurious radiation. Also possibly unhealthy for non-invulnerable people.

That said, the Arions do have specialized and highly-efficient charging stations on their warships, but they are hardly going to share that tech with Earth, which tends to publicly side with the Velorians.

Of course a Vel can always fly out to bask in the outer layers of the sun (avoiding the too hot sunspots), but that takes time and most Vels don't really enjoy hard vacuum. At a minimum, it empties all the cavities and openings of their body. I mean, you haven't really farted until you've farted in zero G. The sound and smell might not be detectable, and the propulsion effect is noticeable, with the violence of it making their bodies vibrate and sing from the inside when its happening. And there is always the risk of sharting. Don't want that stuff in orbit gumming up satellite solar arrays.

The other drawback of solar charging is that they always return as platinum blondes with a fantastic tan and brighter than normal eyes (which are already too bright). And, of course, a ridiculously inflated figure.  Which makes it even harder to blend in and pretend to be Terrans.

So its easier and more practical to sip on the high-tension lines. More controlled, but as you said at the beginning, Slim, there are bound to be better ways. We just need to put together a technical team to work on it. Probably lots of trial and error involved. I suppose many of us would volunteer to help.

The problem, of course, is to find a willing Velorian. That's the rub.

Plus Vels aren't really supposed to be here, so they tend to stay undercover most of the time. Unless you are one of the lucky few who they consult with for guidance and local assistance.

Or so the AU mythology goes.  I think I've got to get my act together and finish Earth Shine. Surely this will be one of the projects that Pete will be asked to lead.

Energy storage effects are the same, which is to say they can no longer find their feet, but like Vels, gravity has no effect on them. One glance and you know you are dealing with a superhuman.

Gven the Arions  expunged the genes for blonde hair from their race (remember, they used to be Velorians many centuries ago) their jet-black hair starts developing purple highlights when they are engorged with energy. Purple is bad, and you better hope a Velorian is standing between you and the murderous Prime with purple highlights.

Also, their eyes blaze an electric blue with traces of red in their pupils. Red is bad. If they release their laser vision, even military-grade armor melts like butter under a blow-torch.

This is the last image many doomed men saw before they felt an intense prickling heat as the flesh melted off their faces and their upper body disappeared in a puff of greasy black smoke.

You seriously don't want to mess with a Prime.

(Sorry for the over-cropped picture. When the eyes started sparkling, it was time to drop the camera and run.)

Former  secret  weapons research sites with high security and very good connections to power grid might be repurposed for charging research.   A suitable safe distance to population may call for deep burial of the facility.   If any of the aliens were looking for steady employment their use as energy storage units could be valuable during peak demand periods. Or as mobile solar energy collectors.
