Ball & Chain
Ball & Chain is an old Image miniseries that featured a couple on the cusp of divorce before a meteor explosion showers them with superpowers (strength and speed) that only work when they are in close proximity to each other which is a challenge cause they hate one another now.

One thing I find interesting that the article doesn't mention is this is the SECOND time around for this Scott Lobdell mini-series. Way back in the 90s or early 2000's, there were series discussions of making this into a TV series. They even cast it (Dan Cortese of MTV fame and Sasha Alexander, Lips hot teacher in Shameless, were cast I remembered). Sadly, I don't think it ever went to pilot even.
Hopefully this go round will be a little more successful with the power of the Rock and Emily Blunt behind it.

(And having her also married to an ordinary man was a stroke of genius for the plot.)
But Ball & Chain this sounds like it could be fun too. They need their Powers, but it means they have to be together, presumably in all the ways, to keep that power... and they hate each other. Neat concept.
Just shows that there are yet more undiscovered ways to portray Powers.

The “powers only when we’re together” is actually not that rare in the ubergirl space. The first one I remember was Image’s Proximity Effect GN that featured a super powered female rock star when she was close to her “battery” (some dude).
Another example is the lighter tone of Opposite Forces where a female and male neighbor get zapped together under the same premise
If you think about it, probably the first use of the idea was the Wonder Twins!
