Whedon off Wonder Woman
However, yesterday, Warner Bros. bought a new Wonder Woman script (that was already completed) that takes place in the 40s like the original series. So, that may be a silver lining at least.

Let's hope the next writers can get it done. But you're right. It's probably in limbo now.

The opening scene reminds me very much of the opening scene in lord of the rings, but in MHO thats no bad thing. I am a little concerned that she's only said to have the strength of ten men, thats not the Wonder Woman i read in the comics, still the script has some interesting ideas, but nothing will probably come of it.

***** SPOILERS AHEAD ******
Espcially cool was the incorporation of Artemis in the storyline as well as the final "epic" battle (time will tell) of the Nazis versus the Amazons and their hover chariots. Sounds like an FX boon which hopefully will live up to how its written (according to the reviewer).
Of course, I've read elsewhere the theory that the producers were so impressed with the writing and given that they are newcomers, they bought the script to get them on board to write a modern day twist. Who knows.....
There is also the rumor that with Whedon off the project, it has been "fast tracked" -- whatever that means in movie time. Given the drawn out time its taken thus far, I think anything would be fast compared to what its been. Still, at least there seems to be a heartbeat on the monitors still.....

When it was first announced he was going to do a script I thought it was great. But the more interviews he did and the longer it took I began to have my doubts, and now think it may be a good thing, as he was obviously having trouble with it. On another note a review of a script that time warner recently bought is here. Credit to the reviewer Mat-Chow www.latinoreview.com/scriptreview.php?id=48

It sounds like that script could be adapted to modern times. The only problem I could see is coming up with an appropiate villian(s) comparable to the Nazis. Any ideas?

Yeah, I read that script review and it sounds promising (Thanks for the link dauntingmold!).

There are a few obvious options they seem to have:
Middle or Far East Terrorists
The International Mafia
Drug Lords
The Stereotypical Big Corporate Conglomerate
So I’m confused. The movie is still on? It’s now going to be modern times rather than 40’s now? I agree it would be nice to see some build up of the mythos and back-story, but if the B characters and story line dominate WW screen time it’s going to be a bust for me.
