Kara gone from Smallville -- for a while?

And bear in mind -- Laura Vandervort appears in the show's opening credits, along with series regulars like Tom Welling, Michael Rosenbaum, Alison Mack et alia ... so it's unlikely she'll disappear after only a few appearances.

Unless the writers' strike derails whatever plans they had for her.

I agree that it hasn't been a flop with Supergirl so far. I think they have "mellowed" her out a little as her relationship with Clark has progressed, but that was to be expected. I mean, as much as a lot of people round here had hoped, she wasn't gonna be this bad-ass little superpowered spitfire.

I think she still has some spunk in her. I like to think (hope) that her docile nature in "Blue" was due to her not wanting to fight her Dad rather than her becoming "weak and soft".

As for the depowering, maybe I missed something but is it confirmed she is depowered? Rumor is (spoilers) she's gonna get "closer to Lex" in the upcoming episodes. Dunno exactly what this means but remember, in one of the many incarnations of Kara in the comics, Lex twisted her to do his bidding. Might make for interesting theater to have a superpowered Kryptonian on the payroll (read AK's "Superior Girl" for more imagery)!

Anyways, I think they've invested a good amount of time and press on the character, so strike or not, with 6 episodes to go, I don't think they'll kick her to the curb. Case in point, in the Kara episodes, the lionshare of the "expensive" FX budget has probably gone to her character, not Clark's -- albeit, most of it has been flying and not good XTST stuff people round here like most.

My $.02
ELF

I'm actually not so negative about how things have gone. It has been a huge few months for the fans.

Maybe BW wasn't up to everyones hopes, but it was still main stream fun and has some legs left.

Smallville ~ I knew going into it that they wouldn't let her steal the show. The couldn't let her do that. I'd almost argue that she came closer than they wanted which might get us that spin off. We'll see. If you think about it even Clark's character hasn't been ALL that super in this series.

Here's the new Smaville schedule for the next two months or so... my guess is that they are hoarding the handful of unaired scripts to use in the last part of the season. Perhaps they are trying to stretch the writing until the end of the season.

On the other hand, this can (and will) change if they get the writers back. They reshuffle episodes all the time.

But if this schedule holds, we're basically looking at 2 new episodes out of 10 air dates.

11/29 "Bizarro" (repeat)
12/6 "Kara" (repeat)
12/13 "Gemini" NEW!
12/20 "Fierce" (repeat)
12/27 "Cure" (repeat)
1/3 "Action" (repeat)
1/10 Repeat
1/17 Repeat
1/24 Repeat
1/31 "Persona" NEW!

Oh don't get me wrong, I've really enjoyed Kara's appearences in Smallville, I think she's a good actress and looks the part, my only complaint in the episodes that have aired is that she always seems to need saving, it would be nice if she did the saving once in a while. My disappointment is from the events at the end of the last episode when it appears she has been made powerless, and may stay that way for several episodes. I can only hope like others this may be a plot device for a spin off show with ready made alter ego in place, wishful thinking I know.

In terms of the "saving" versus "needing to be saved", I count the score as 1-2. Possible spoilers below....

In Fierce, she was the once saving Clark, and in "Blue" and "Lara", Clark was the one that had to save her. Actually, you could say she "saved" Lex as well so you might score it as 2-2.

Its kinda funny as we are all over here complaining that Clark is saving her too much and the die-hard SV fans on over on their board complaining that Clark is too much of a wuss and Kara is saving him too much.

In any case, I think they've only scratched the surface with Kara. I like the fact they kinda kept her dark and a mystery for the first 5 episodes. I hope they figure a way to keep that going....

The following is just a spoof of the Trek versus B5 versus Star Wars endless threads:

Pfft ~ Clark fans are clearly off their rockers and their BB's/Forums Suck!!!

I say down with Clark! End "Smallville" and change the name of the show!

After all Kara's heat vision is clearly stronger than Clarks. I can prove it scientifically to using my strange made up pseudo science.

Put another way:
Dax#1 is to Cisco as Kara is to Clark
In other words a much better character ~ and much better on the eyes.
