Castor's SuperGirl Pilot Script

Castor's SuperGirl Pilot Script was created by castor
Earlier this year i started writing a SuperGirl Movie Script just for the fun ot it.(i do that), before the show got announced or anything I got about 85 pages in before i stoped-it lost me at some point.

However a week or so ago i reread it, and discovered something-its not really a good movie script but the first 60 or so pages do kind of work as a TV pilot-it setups the characters, the conflicts etc pretty well. Its kind of flaws as a movie i think work better as TV- the stuff i setup here can't really be dealt with so quickly.

From whats been reveled about the shows it has some comonality with this one-but thats concidence. I did a little cleanup but not much-thanks Dru always-cause when ever i do a story any good in the editing comes from him. This is me writing pretty raw.

That said i thought some people might like to take a read of it. Its got some interesting stuff. i wanted to play a bit with some of Shadars ideas in a manner you can show on network TV, and i think i had a clever idea of how to do the character of Braniac(who isn't portrayed by any one). This is worth sharing.

Any feedback or comments would be apreciated and if nothing else hopes it wets your appetite for the real thing.

I started reading this and then got distracted, but came back to it this morning. Its very rough, so you have to scan read, but I really liked it. In fact, I like your approach to the character and background conflict better than anything I've seen regarding Kara in a very long time.

The idea that she survived that crash so long ago (in a sleep pod) and that evil came to Earth with her in the form of their crashed enemy is very cool. Its believable (in the way of such things) and holds a lot of promise. I even liked the touch of humor, including Kara's thing about skirts.

Nicely done... if this was the pilot for the TV show, then you've have at least one fan. I won't say a lot more here because others may not have read it. But you've defined a totally new Kara who is a perfect tie in to the hints left in MOS and that preview comic, and created a Kara with an underlying super-conflict that could fly on TV today. Bravo.

Thanks that really makes my day. As i said i did want to touch on some of your ideas- and i really liked the idea of her after all shes been through-just wants to be normal-but well can't. I think theres a story there, which could make an intresting show-maybe someday i will get a chance to do it as a movie-who knows.

When writing the story i got to making a concept art for Braniac. I didn't want to do them as a giant space ship or an alien dude-but was inspired by Computer Chess where for one scene the computer comes alive-i think its a cool idea to have a villian who can't even speak-and is just a prompt of text . But mostly hes just an olmec inspired head worthy of a museum. .

Braniac has always been the best villain for Kryptonians to fight, at least IMHO.

I also liked portions of Battlestar Gallactica and the Cylons. The idea of meat brains and bodies opposing machine intelligence.

Not to mention portions of the Terminator mythos.

Given that some leading AI researchers are actually worried about the potential for self-aware machines, it becomes all the more interesting. A totally rational, logical, self-aware machine could conclude that erratic, emotional and error-prone humans need more "protection" than we would like. Hopefully that will remain in the realm of SF and not the headlines.

But then, a self-aware, logical machine would do away with what we call "News" as job one, given it wouldn't condone deception and manipulation. At first.

Eventually, the machines would figure out that controlling humans is easy if you can control what they think. Which turns out to be pretty easy for most people. Then we are truly screwed.

Yeah thats one of the themes of how he would have operated-at least at first. it can't build giant robots or anything, but he can subtly effect the world-its news, its reports-and its power grids etc. Things a computer control. Chaos for chaos sake-and its not above taking advantage of the Poor Meat brains around it either thinking there smarter then it.

Becuse fundementally a giant robot-shes just going to smash it. The real villian of krpytonians has to be more subtle then that.

Ahh this was a fun script and idea

Here's hoping the person who's getting paid to write this show has an imagination similar to yours.

And why not use the seeds that the movie put in place -- unless the movie sequel is going to use them itself. Not sure how much cross-pollination of ideas is allowable between a CBS TV property and a Warner movie property or a DC comic book.

I guess we should be glad that Kara doesn't appear in MOS2. TV shows, given the sheer number of hours on the screen (10+ per season), can do some things much better than a movie. Especially for folks like me who aren't overly enamored with special effects. I regard them as sprinkles on the frosting of the cupcake. Pretty, but not essential.
