Painkiller Jane Sucks!!

Anybody see the first ep of PK? God, what a crapasterpiece!! Craptastic! Bad acting, bad writing, awful production values, ect,ect. I read some of the reviews that said the show was bad, but they were all being too. It looks like working with Uwe Boll has had some kind of effect on Loken, seeing that she's the show's co-producer. This makes me more hopeful the Eick's new BW series will be great. It sure can't be any worse than PK.

So how do you really feel about it?

Wow ~ I missed it ~ but I figured with Loken I'd be able to sit through anything so long as there was eye candy. Now I'm not so sure.

Guess we'll have to stick to the kind of painkillers that come in a bottle.

Okay ~ I watched it. I went in with low expectations and it wasn't *that* bad.

There actually was some "super" action. Being shot, fast healing, falling 40 floors.

You can tell they are on a Sci Fi budget no doubt, but the production is okay. There is one future-scape city panorama that got under my skin.

The acting was as good as you get on the likes of "everyone loves raymond", "friends" "Firefly" etc..." I blame more the writing than the actors.

Some of the artistic choices were really suspect. The freeze frame for dialogue before the shootout in the police station for example. Could they have made Loken look any worse. What was with all of the low saturation scenes or blown out in camera whites. I'm also not a fan of the camera that is attached to the actor with a boom overhead.

I'll keep watching, there is hope for this one even if it might never be "great." I like the concept, I like Loken’s more mature look.

Anyone else think it has a “TekWar” (early 90’s show) feel to it? I’m not sure why I get that… haha

oh yea ~ what was with the over use of the "rain machine" ~ did we HAVE to set off the sprinklers in the PD station etc etc etc...?

I never saw the pilot movie, but caught the first ep of the show. The biggest problem seems to be not the content, but how it is presented to the audience, with the previously mentioned, camera effects, that just come off as distracting. They seem to want to go for a gritty low-budget alias style, but simply have no idea how to focus on the action properly. Some of the cutaways in the fight scenes were spot on, but few and far between any sort of continuity of quality. Still it is the first episode, most likely the first filmed, hopefully the crew will learn quickly.

A lot of the dialogue does seem forced... personally I'd find it more interesting if the monologue was speaking to herself, instead of the viewers. I'm not going to harp on the bad acting yet, I think it's more of an issue with the director not communicating nor knowing how exactly the pursuit scenes should play out. Far too much re-used footage, which probably would have been less annoying if it were good footage, that was in focus and interesting to look at.

Okay, I could rant on about all the things wrong with it, but it was there first episode. I would like to give it a chance. Why? Well although there wasn't really anything clip worthy in ep1, she did display some invulnerability with that healing. It was already hinted in previous threads that she might be able to heal faster and stronger each time, which is what the audience would also expect, since the more you participate in an activity, the better your performance.

I'm going to keep my expectations low, but still presume that the next ep will be better. That's not too high, right? They are off to a messy start, but we now know the people, know the plot, and have some idea what this is all going to be about. It's time for them to focus (key word) on an actual story line and play it out.

It has enough potential to improve. The real question is, will it?

i mean loken is hot and she even says in that ep she gets stronger not sure if she was talking mentaly or phisicly or both, but im will to keep watcing and find out.
