In November, 1970, different yet again. All over the map. (Note the outrageous dialog):

What a cool sequence - from bikini to Barbarella! I wonder if "Margaret Berg from NY, NY" the alleged designer of that costume, was an actual female reader.

Also, I didn't realize there was a period where she would lose her powers at random intervals. Good thing she was just hovering over the boat by a few inches; a few moments earlier and she would have plummeted out of the sky. That's really a interesting psychological plot point for superheroes actually. I remember at various points She-Hulk, Mary Marvel, and Vicki Grant from "Dial H For Hero" all unexpectedly turned human from super in the midst of action. It really messed with their heads (and narrowly avoided being killed).

Given the way the eye works, especially for target-trained shooters, bullets are going to be instinctively aimed at the middle of the "S". When the S is in the middle of her chest, her sternum takes a pounding. You can get some very energetic rebounds from Kryptonian muscle, bone and cartilage.

But placed over her breast like that, the rebounding of blunted bullets will plop safely to the ground thanks to the deep padding. Far safer for bystanders, and Kara never seemed to mind.

This is an even bigger advantage with Power Girl, who probably collects them under her costume.

(All of which proves that I can overthink everything when it comes to SG or my Vels. <grin>)

I'm not sure why people are so down on articles like this one. Sure, I had my points of disagreement - I despised the animated series uniform, for example, and wasn't any fan of the New 52 look either - but I don't read articles to only be exposed to opinions with which I agree.

As for click bait, to my mind that refers to headlines that are misleading or overly hyped. This headline was a simple description of the contents of the article - a list of 10 Supergirl costumes, 5 the author considered the worst and 5 he considered the best. You can argue whether such an article was worth writing in the first place, but the proper response to such an article, when the headline is so precisely descriptive, if you know you won't like it, is not to read it.

I think this a GREAT thread, and an interesting link to get it started. Of course we don't agree on costumes... That's the good part.

The ones I like are flats, and not heels, but have the same ribbon. I'd forgotten that these existed.

Here's one of my normal refs . (I can't seem to find a better one. I might have to go find issues and pull them out.)

Or of course you can look at the recent one in my gallery on DA (thought the top is different, she's maximizing skin area to absorb more yellow sun.)

(Forgive me for pimping my own commissions -- but I think it talks to both: Supergirl costumes and answering which shoes I liked!)

The description on DA also has some of the comparative energy rates of solar from Kansas to orbit to mercury orbit that was in my Kryptonian Journal entry. And how long it would take Supergirl to charge up to super-kyrptonian levels.

And while I find boots sexy -- every super heroine wears them. But most NEED them (Batgirl, Black Canary, etc). Supergirl does not, so since she doesn't I like to see her in less practical footwear.

I really like this analysis, and it make total sense. Supergirl would think of things like this.

(Of course I never understood why with her powers she lets the criminals actually pull the triggers in the first place ... other than she must like it. )

Things like a good place to springboard- What do you think the new Series Costume is going to look like?

(Which i am going to say i am 80%-and for sake of the thread lets say is going to happen).

The Helen Slater look is good-but i don't think works in modern day-its trying very hard to look like the comic-but well i think people expect a little more texture.

Last year this picture made a lot o the rounds of the internet- the idea of a man of steel inspired costume.

I am going to say, likely where going to get some version like this- the kind of gortex and pleather look that most movie superheros wear.. Maybe we will see a bit of the New 52 armor look-but i doubt where going to see a bathing suit on network tv-so probabbly a skirt and boots. How they do that, how they make it work i am very intrested to see.

Anyone else have thoughts?

Totally agree - nothing wrong with click bait per se. It worked with me and this headline is indeed accurate to the article. I was purely referring to the business model of sites like this, not making a judgement on being tricked or something.
