As demonstrated by a young Velorian, who is still working on making "polite" landings. Not to mention learning what to wear and not wear when you go flying.

The alien laser weapon had cut main battle tanks in half and taken down dozens of aircraft. The heaviest fortifications of ferro-concrete melted at its touch.

Thankfully, this world has a Protector, and she has decided to suck up the power of that alien weapon exactly the way she was trained.

Unfortunately, given the massive power of the beam, her revealing outfit is going to be the only thing in her wardrobe that fits her, for a while anyway.

An Arion Prime caught in the act of finishing someone off. Heat vision can be a horrific weapon when wielded by someone without any regard for human life, but the death is painless.

Trained as warriors from birth, if a Prime were to appear in the DC Comics universe, even the Kryptonians would find themselves hard put to stop her.

This was NOT what the Galen had in mind when they took some humans and created the Homo Sapiens Supremis subspecies. But just as it likely was when subspecies of men interacted long ago, Homo sapiens Neanderthalensis and Homo Sapiens Sapiens for example, the worst competition (and greatest violence) can occur between subspecies. We Sapiens Sapiens won that battle, but it is not at all clear we will win this one.

The Sapiens Supremis were, after all, designed to be the ultimate subspecies of human in all the universe.

Or so the lore goes in the AU.

One of the downsides of having been born Velorian... soak up a little too much energy and you have this problem.

Only a geeky male writer would include, among all the other genetically engineered features of a Velorian, a feature where mammary glands have been modified to hold orgone, an extremely high density form of energy storage. And that excess energy is stored there to be "metabolized" during periods of superhuman exertion. Before a trip in space or a big battle, they have to "tank up", so to speak. A half hour browning out a nearby high-tension power line just about does the trick.

Said writer needed a way to explain how a superwoman could expend millions of calories of energy in a matter of minutes without invoking magic... or eating a semi-tractor trailer full of Energy Bars.

I totally agree she would have a problem for herself, but I'm not her.

Velorian Protectors on undisclosed worlds (like Earth) are supposed to blend in with the rest of the humans, at least as much as a tall, stunningly gorgeous blonde can. They are only allowed to engage intruding Arions, but otherwise are required to stay uninvolved in human affairs.

Which works well enough most of the time. You don't need a lot of skill to be accepted and to blend in, given Velorian attractiveness. Men are very accepting, and they provide great cover.

But when the shit hits the fan and she has to engage some Arions, it's important to go to battle with a lot of Orgone energy. But siphoning off a few tens of megawatts of public utility power leads to interesting problems. Blending in is now out of the question, as you'll note in the Spoiler picture below.
