I went for a nap and a bit of a patrol and come back to all these questions! I’m actually pretty ecstatic for all the warm welcomes and questions.
Well, today I have off from both school and work so I’m gonna be in my dorm for the majority of the day. Got my favorite shirt on, my favorite pj shorts on and my coziest socks on. I don’t think the Jaws of Life can pry me out of my bed if it tried. Then again, I don’t think it can under any other situation.

Caylane wrote: This just came to mind. Before you were changed has there been that person you've had your eye on to pursue, but after you changed they have noticed you? Sorry if the wording confuses you.

No, I think I got the question right, it’s fine.

Well, there is this one guy in my American Literature class…damn, just thinking about him is causing me to hover above my bed. Good thing the blinds and curtains are closed!

He was rugged handsome, pretty fit, and intelligent. Well-dressed, and I mean in that clean-cut kind of way.

We talked on a few occasions last semester, but I don’t think anything came from that. Plus, I just felt that I was out of my own league at the time so I let it go over the summer.

We’re in the same class again this semester. And though I sit somewhere else instead, I caught him on multiple occasions just gawking and staring at me. I’m still not used to the attention so I kinda blush at it, though inside I highly appreciate the stares. We got coffee together after class twice now and I must say that there is much more to him than meets the eye.

Of course, now comes the hard part. Obviously, he is now into me as much as I am into him. Still, I find it incredible that he just now noticed me because I’m playing a different ballgame all together. Plus, if I decide it to pursue it any further, do I hide it from him or do I just flat-out tell him the truth?

I guess time will tell huh?

Lulu wrote: Ever tried to find a limit to your strength or your speed? I wonder how strong and fast you really are. Oh and of course also an warmly welcome from me.

Thanks for the warm welcome Lulu!

Well, funny you should ask! I’ve tried to find a limit on my strength and speed, but it seems that I can’t find anything that can challenge me yet. Well, at least anything that doesn’t cause substantial damage. I mentioned before that I “workout” with trains, large trucks, and compressed cubes of steel. Well, after feeling a bit more energetic than usual, I decided to try and workout at a rock quarry. Turns out, there was nothing that can challenge me there as well. I found massive boulders, about 70 feet in diameter and I was totting it over my head with one arm as if I was carrying my laptop. I even shifted the weight to just one finger, and that did not offer me the slightest bit of resistance either. Again, that’s the largest thing I had to compare to at the time, I might try something else one day to see if that offers me any challenge.

As for speed, well Pansardum suggested I tried to measure my speed on chat last night. Obviously, aside from seeing when I go beyond the sound barrier, there really is not another way to measure how fast I am. So I came up with an idea of me throwing something to myself from one side of the football field to the other. Thankfully Sarah volunteered to keep time for me, and I told her to start the time when I get to the other side.

I had my doubts of thinking that a football can survive my throw, so I opted to throw a 50 lbs kettlebell since it’s a lot sturdier. So I started on one side of the field as I then launched the weight. Making sure that it started to arc down and not fly clear out of the stadium, I then ran to the otherside of the field. Jess swore that I teleported since I was literally at one end to the other faster than she could blink.

It took the kettlebell another 5 seconds before I safely caught it in my hands.

Though I still don’t think that’s a good test, it’s pretty awesome to know that I can literally play catch with myself. Though next time, I might expand the field from one end of the state to the other.

SophiePortmane wrote: I'll start with two questions:

1. You said that people stop their track staring at you so I guess you must be incredibly georgeous. Plus, You now have some sort of god-like power, You just can do everything you want at anytime. My first question is: Even if your friend told you she's glad for what happened to you, don't you think inwardly she's dying whith envy? I mean, it must be a bit frustrating for her!

2. With such an amount of power and ability and a body to die for, have you really never felt a littlte bit... superior? Like you're now just better than anybodyelse?

Thank you so much, but god-like power? I am not too sure about that and I don’t think I want to do everything that I want at anytime. I’m sure you read about my stint at Starbucks, didn’t really feel good about doing that afterwards. I guess I’ll learn with better judgment.

1) I have noticed a few pangs of envy with her voice and some body language. Before, I was rather clueless and oblivious about cues but thanks to my sharpened senses I’m able to notice even the smallest of details. I actually confronted her about it and asked her. Of course she denied it at first but after a bit of prying she fessed up to it. I told her that I never planned for this to happen and I shared this secret with her because I know I can trust her with it. Sometimes, I wish I’m able to share my powers with her.
I then got an idea and smiled, figuring that one way I can share with her is if I take her flying with me. I forgot about her fear of heights so she was not as enthusiastic as I thought. I then assured her that everything will be fine and I’ll make sure not to let go. Reluctantly, she agreed and I quickly cradled her in my arms before I took off into the air, soaring high into the night sky. Hearing her smile and laugh with glee made me smile again. After that day, we’ve never been any closer than now.

2) I’m not going to lie and say that I haven’t had an ego trip during this. Especially during the first day back, I swear I was strutting as if I was on Fashion Week in Paris. But I later realized that just because I can outbench the school’s top powerlifter or sprint faster than the current record holder did not make me any better. Especially since I realized that if all that power went to your head, it'll just make you into a bigger asshole or a bigger bitch than before. And I didn’t want that to be honest, it just wouldn’t feel right since I got these powers by chance and circumstance, not because it was my birthright.

So, do I feel superior to everyone? Not really.

Do I feel different from everyone? Yes absolutely.

Do I want to alienate myself from the general population? Absolutely not.

ChaozCloud wrote: I'm going to go with my favorite question: Have you ever lost control of your powers? And if yes, what happened?

It happened the first or second night after I transformed.

I was bored one time, so I decided to download and play the Slendergame. So I was casually going through one of the levels, collecting the notes when all of the sudden I see the static forming around my screen. So I started to panic and started to run faster. Not realizing my strength at the time, my hand mashed through the mouse, rendering me useless in the game.

I then saw his face, causing me to scream in panic. Of course, my scream shattered the windows in my room and I then “feel” my eyes glowing red. Before I knew it, I feel two red beams lance out from my eyes and melt my laptop down to a molten pile of burning plastic.

Obviously, my mom noticed the near-deafening scream and came into my room. She could’ve sworn that a war went off in my room. And this was before I told her what happened, so I guess the cat was out of the bag now. So I told her and showed her what happened to me. She took it hard at first but like I said, she got around it after a bit and we’ve grown closer ever since.

Coincidentally, that’s the first time I found out about my heat vision and how powerful my lungs and vocal chords are now.

njae wrote:

Camille Jones wrote: Though the first thing that took me by surprise was when I found out I could fly. Just that feeling of weightlessness, just hovering there. That feeling is just beyond anything I can describe. Though that one took me some time to control and I still don't have a complete handle on things since my flight powers is connected to me feeling happy. And even the simplest of things can get me to hover, like chocolate for example. Mmmmm!

Well, would you look at that, I'm now hovering above my bed now. Hmm, I might stay like this for a bit.

Sounds like it'll be troublesome for you to keep your feet on the ground. How do you deal with this in public?

Yeah, it’s a bit of a problem for me huh?

Well, I usually have to think some sad thoughts or just be a bit more somber about it. However, that has gained me to have a reputation of being a cold bitch. So instead, I opted to try to keep my thoughts more positive and happy but remind myself to keep grounded. That hasn’t helped out a lot either since I find myself rising slightly in my chair every now and then.

So for now, until I can get that under control, I’m practicing “airwalking”. That has garnered some success, and I can easily pull it off if I’m wearing closed-toed heels or pumps since they can still hear the sound of my shoes on the floor but I’m actually hovering inside them.

supian wrote: Hi Camille - during the time since your body has 'buffed out' to superheroine proportions, have you had any embarrassing wardrobe malfunctions wih your everyday clothing, or have you given yourself a new set of clothes to cope with your new body? Have your boobs grown by alot meaning you've needed to buy new bras?

At first, yes, I’ve had a few moments when my muscles ripped a few sleeves or so. Though most of my malfunctions come when I use my powers. Some clothes were not meant for those speeds so I usually come home with my clothes in ribbons, scalding hot.

My shoes did not fare any better. Especially when I go for a run around the state, they are usual worn down until my barefeet are touching the road. Eventually, I had to run barefooted. Just as well, I find that my feet are tougher than any reinforced steel-toed boot out there and a million times more flexible.

I went and bought new outfits for myself, thank you Financial Aid refund! I bought a variety of outfits, ranging from casual to some that shows off my body a bit more if I’m feeling up to it. I bought a few pairs of shoes as well, though they are mostly for aesthetic reasons. But I bought lots of socks, especially tube socks and over the knee ones. I like wearing them even though I know they won’t hold out long if I go all out.

As for bras, well funny thing is that my pec muscles hold my breast firm. So much so that I often overhear comments about them being fake or plastic. I still wear bras though as well as any other underwear, but they are mostly there for aesthetic reasons. Thankfully, a 38 DD cup size is not as scarce; I just have to go online to order them since they don’t carry them in most retail stores.

You'd think that superspeed would make me more punctual, huh?

Hi Camille!

I know you said there's some guy in your class or whatevz, but as you're doubtlessly starting to realize, the world is a very big place. And I'm sure having the ability to go anywhere in a short amount of time means you're starting to realize just how varied and diverse it is in a way you've never really understood before. Being well travelled is a wonderful thing!

To that end, I would like to extend a warm invitation should you ever find yourself flying around California and in need of a friendly place to land. I'd be happy to act as your personal tour guide to the Bay Area. And don't worry, I'll sleep on the couch. I'm super respectful and shit. B)

Oh yeah, this is an "ask me" thread. So I have only one question but you're not allowed to use Google to answer it: How do you wake up Lady Gaga?

Aww, thank you very much yohashuan! You know, now that I don't have to worry about airplane costs, I might embark on a worldwide trip over my next summer break.

Since you offered, I might take you up on that offer one day. And you don't even have to worry about sleeping on the couch, I can just sleep on the air! When it comes to couch surfing, I try to be as respectful and as minimal as possible.

Now, back to your question.
Hmm, I dunno to be honest. You poke her face? Oh, now I get it.

That sounds fantastic! I kinda wanted to see what the rave was all about when it comes to their pizza and hotdogs. Me being a native New Yorker however, I might be a bit biased on those two topics ;).

The first power I found out about was actually my super-strength. I know this might sound a bit crazy, but it was one of those powers that I "knew" I had when I transformed. And this one also ties into the second question, by the way. The pink rock was now just an ordinary lump of space rock, it lost it's glow. Or rather, I think the glow jumped from the rock onto me. So I simply picked it up off the ground and started to toss it up in the air. Mind you, the rock is soccer-ball sized so I knew even then that it was pretty heavy for me to be casually lobbing it in the air like that. I then caught the rock and I decided to measure my strength by squeezing it. I gasped as I heard the rock crack and splinter before it was reduced to mere rubble in my hand. I dusted my hand off to find that I was not bleeding, not even a scratch!

I was beaming from ear to ear after that little display.

Depends on the costume, if it was a simple leotard then yes. If it was more of a full-on suit then I would probably have to stash it in my bag or something. I did find a few suits I would like, but it's gonna set me back about $1,000.00 just to make it out of kevlar.

As for the rock, no I'm not really afraid of that. I crushed it into rubble and if the rock was my weakness, then something should've happened when I touched it then. Don't see how it would affect me now.

Thanks italy877, but I don't think I'm a superheroine yet. I'm still pretty new to this whole super thing so I only patrol part-time to get the hang of things.

Hmm, I would consider it, but I wanted one without a cape. It would just hold me back during chases and fights. And no high-heels either. Either flat-soled shoes, mininmalist shoes or comfortable shoes that seems to fit seamlessly on the rest of my outfit. The more comfortable and flexible, the better.

Thank you so much! I mean this has actually helped me out in ways I didn't think about. I have people to talk about and give me some advice on what to do and what to try out. Plus, it helps to talk it out from what I've gathered.

Actually, I live in upstate near Syracuse so I'll probably stop by Manhattan on my way to my mom's house when I come up to visit.

As for how it feels, well I can't even describe it myself! It just feels so awesome, like a sense of freedom I didn't know about until I started to hover up in the air.

Don't worry, I'll be around here for a long time.

As for the taking the bad guys to jail, I don't think I'll be doing that often. It'll be way too risky if they don't exactly approve of my method of community service with them trying to catch me and all. I can easily break out and get away free, but I don't think that'll be a good look for myself. Instead, I think I'll just tie the badguys down somewhere safe and call them in or wait until they show up.

Erm, thanks. But please, I don't know if I like to be compared to a goddess or anything of that sort. That word places me on some sort of pedestal and I don't really want to be on that pedestal. Kinda makes me feel like I'm this untouchable thing and that's the last thing I really want.

Well, I wouldn't say just for fun, but more like well-deserved.

I live in a apartment building on campus and up on the top floor, perfect for me for obvious reasons. Well, for the past few Wednesdays, there is this guy that just keeps on blasting his music all night long. And I know that it was not because of my superhearing since I can hear my other neighbors banging on the door, telling him to stop! The guy wouldn't budge!

So I decided that enough was enough.

I waited until he passed out, to which I then flew out of my dorm. I wore pretty much all black so there was a good chance I was not going to be seen but I was careful. I then landed at his balcony, seeing that the door was locked. I knew that I could break it down, but I had to be discrete about it. So I just turned the knob until I felt the lock snap off.

A quick glance of my x-ray showed me that his music system is being controlled by a remote control. What's more is that you can reset the password to it if you locked it. After resetting his password, I decided to have a bit of fun. I then set the most annoying song I could think off at the time to set off at around 5am, on repeat, all day. Deciding that my handiwork is done, I then fly back with the remote and went to bed for a few hours.

I woke up about 5 am, giggling as my ears can pick up the song being played. I made sure to set the speakers close to his ears so he can get a taste of it. My x-ray vision showed me that he was rather freaked out about it. He then gathered his wits, and unplugged the sound system before going back to bed.

Oh, did I fail to mention that I set his phone and his computer to play that on repeat? Kinda nifty when he left those buttons available on his remote. I just hit play again on his phone, and sure enough it went off. And to add insult to injury, I then played it on his laptop. He freaked out a bit more before he unplugs everything, and I mean everything, in his room.

Now, all my Wednesdays are pretty quiet.

You'd think that superspeed would make me more punctual, huh?

So that what that was the other day! I was trying to figure out what the hell was going on for the life of me.

I felt like I had a lot more energy than usual, it was almost like a burning sensation in my chest. I also noticed that I gained more size and definition when that solar flare happened. I couldn't even stop floating if I wanted to, I was constantly bobbing up and down in the air.

However, I think because of it, I found out about a new power! Turns out I have telekinesis!

I tried it out the other day, and both Pansandum and njae were helping me out with how it works. I even went over to Pans house last night to see how it would feel like if I telekinetically lifted him up in the air. Basically, whatever object or person I want to lift, my hand would glow pink then the object or person would glow pink. Kinda feels like they are an extension of me for that moment.

But I still had this excess energy built up, so I had to figure out a way to cool off. So I decided to take a fly towards the North Pole and go for a swim there. The frigid waters helped plenty actually though I could see the steam rising from my body. I then dived down below just to see what was down there. I managed to hit the sea floor and I saw a few ship wrecks as well as a few species that I don't think I've ever seen before. I stayed down there for about an hour or two before I resurfaced and went home.

The pleasure was all mine, I couldn't believe my luck when you decided to let me help you try out your new power. It was really a new experience, not only have a supergirl knock on my door, but the feeling of freedom when you took me for a flight. From the first hovering test in my living room to the soaring, high above the rain clouds, in your protective telekinesis bubble. It was a bit scary at first, thinking how you accidentally have broken some thing, and not to mention the flying itself. But my concerns quickly faded when I noticed how gentle you handled me. I bet a lot of people here would be extremely jealous if they knew only half of what I experienced since these words can not nearly portray our meeting. But I digress.

Since this is the "ask a supergirl" thread I should probably add a question, when will I see you again?
Or maybe a more serious one, you have mentioned that you have done some patrols, have you been able to save someone?

I think I know why you had to cool off ;) I know I could have used an ice bath after you left

Well, since you have telekinesis, this probably accounts for you flight powers too.

Now, so far you've explored the phisical side of your abilities, but what about your mental ones. Since you can safely move at super-speed and use your super-senses we can guess that your brain can process input faster than usual, but this doesn't tell you anything about your other mental abilities.
Let's try a little test on your memory. Take a dozen book - the more similar the better- and read them at super-speed. Now try to remember and write down the following:

- The first word of each chapter of book twelve.
- The entire final paragraph of book six.
- Last word of each line of page 100 of book one, of page 200 of the second, of page 300 of the third.

Let me know about the results.

I'm interested in the rock that gave you your powers, so I have a few questions related to it.
1)Do you know where it came from originally?
2)Do you think there might be more rocks like it out in space or somewhere on Earth?
3)If so, are you worried you might one day meet somebody with the same powers as you?
4)If you did meet somebody with the same powers, how do you think you would act?

Thank you in advance for any reply you deign to give me. I'm sure you have other interesting things you could be doing with your time.

Hay Camille I have seen you’ve been testing your super strength and seem to have unlimited strength.

But what about invulnerability?
How much have you tested that?
What weapons if any have you gone up against and how in effective (cough) ineffective against you was they?
And since Your not kryptonian dose this mean your not vulnerable to kryptonite making you not just mostly invulnerable (like superman) but infinitely invulnerable to all known & unknown weapons?
Could any weapon have even the slightest effect on you?
And what weapons (Earthly and/or alien) would you like to test your invulnerability on?

Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions.

Paul

Actually, I should be thanking you for helping me out. In more ways than one I might add. ;)

And soon Pans, I’m just a bit tied up but I can probably drop by for a few before class.

-blushes when I hear his whisper- Hush you.

-clears throat-

Yeah I have actually! And it felt awesome too!

Granted, I still don’t have a full-fledged suit to go patrolling so I wore what I could that would be both streamlined and functional. So I ended up patrolling in a black sports tanktop, black yoga shorts, thigh high socks and black boots with sunglasses. Again, it had to do for now.

So I decided to just stick to the university area for now, you know baby steps. And as I was flying past a frat house, I could hear just faint murmurs and groans with two guys panting in an almost-primal like fashion. I immediately knew that something was going horribly wrong, so I swooped in and did not even bother making my entrance discreet as I crashed through the window before hovering in bed.

I saw the girl laying there, barely breathing as her breath reeked of alcohol and something I thought I couldn’t smell before. It had a very faint but strong odor. I realized what it was and I turned to the guys, my eyes practically glowing red. How did I not just fry them there and then, I do not know but I saw their faces change from a stupid grin to that of fear. In that instance, I was glad that they were afraid of me.

They both tried to run but I was already blocking the door, appearing in front of them as soon as they blinked and turned. I then hoisted them up by their collars before I knocked them into each other. Then with a flick of my wrists, they both went flying to the other side of the room, one crashing into a bookcase and the other in a closet.

I’m not going to lie, part of me wanted to just kill them for even attempting such a thing. But I know that the more important thing was to get her as far away as possible. Plus, if I killed them, then that wouldn’t make me any better. So I silently scooped her into my arms before I took her to her dorm (a quick scan of her purse and wallet showed me the dorm building and key) but not before I called the police and let them know about the two would-be rapists. I even told them where to find the ruffalin after a quick glance of my x-ray vision.

Thankfully, her dorm has a balcony so I slipped inside and let her down on her bed. She was still out of it, so I just wrote her a note and left it on her nightstand. The note said what happened and a few numbers she could call and if she wanted to talk and meet up sometime, then she can. Naturally, I left her my e-mail (not my personal one but one I created just for such inquiries).

After that, I slipped out and continued on my patrol. Since the party was crashed by the cops who were searching for the two guys, the rest of the night died down so I decided to call it a night.

Hmm, not necessarily. I mean I guess I can use my telekinesis to move myself, but I felt that my flight powers are “different.” I don’t know how to really explain it, but it’s as if it comes from a different power source. The fact that I don’t “glow” when I’m flying or floating confirms my suspicion.

Hmm, alright sure. I think this is a good experiment to try. I have a couple of books lying around so I think I’ll give it a go.

Alright, it turns out that my photographic memory and my speed helps me recall things rather easy. I did a double and a triple-check to make sure that I was right. And I even had Jessica help me out with this one to make sure.

So I was wondering if I could do the same thing in another language. That went extremely well and now I’m fluent in Spanish, German, Mandarin, Japanese and French….for now.

1) I dunno but I decided to try and figure it out. So I went back to the crash site and calculated the trajectory and how deep the impact was. I then looked up and found that my eyes can zoom all the way up there. From the looks of it, it came about 3 or 4 light years away, give or take a few.
2) Considering that the rock is rather small and its part of a much larger asteroid, yes there are much more out there.
3) Actually, that thought has crossed my mind lately. What I’m worried the most is if he or she lets the power go to her head and has the whole ‘goddess-complex’ to boot. So I hope that she doesn’t turn out like that but I fear that it might happen.
4) Well, I would be ecstatic really that there is someone out there like me. Though I would refrain showing any reaction until I see how she handles her powers and how he or she acts.

Hi Paul!
I tested it at first by pressing a stainless steel blade onto me, only to find it fold and crunch together against my stomach. Though I haven’t had a chance to test anything beyond my body not burning into a crisp when I go at certain speeds, so there’s that.

Other than the knife, I haven’t had a chance to test myself against any other weapons though I’m kinda curious about it. Maybe when I go on patrols beyond my university I might encounter something like that so I’ll let you guys know firsthand.

Actually, I think since kryptonite is basically a form of radiation, I think I may get stronger because of it. And I would love to see how I would fare against an artillery shell or a sidewinder missile. I’m still not sure if aliens are out there so I am not sure how I would do against alien weapons. But if it is energy-based, then I think the same thing will happen if I touch kryptonite.

You'd think that superspeed would make me more punctual, huh?
