Cool! If the Smallville SG haters freak out about this - I say "Meh!"

I actually *really* like the cut on it. Only wish it had a yellow trim on the skirt.

Who knows where that was taken (off-screen / backstage) and how "final" that version is. Time will tell, but this is getting more promising....

Well that's not too bad, would of course find an actual costume more cool. Looking forward to seeing the episode, what's the air date again?

Doubtful it'll have the 'S' before Clark gets his, but who knows...

As for the air date, its set for Oct 8th currently. It is the third episode of the season.....

Thanks lfan!

I popped into the Kryptonsite forum a little while back to see if there was any good info on the episode. Didn't find anything but everyone wining how Kara was going to go all heroic before Clark. They were very dismayed at the idea she might get called Supergirl before he's offically Superman

Considering how badly they used her character in the show, it seems fine to me that Kara gets a little spotlight for a single episode.

Yeah...what's the big effin deal??? But then again, I'm admitingly biased :P

It's actually quite humerous reading some of the fans' outrage. Good theatre!!

Maybe we should gather together, invade their forums, and whine about how she wasn't featured in way more episodes and didn't get a spinoff :)

Possible costume spoiler (much better than the pic previously posted) in an interview with Laura. I would assume she is wearing the "costume" here:

That was a very masterful interview by Laura... she did an excellent job of pushing all the buttons (mine anyway!) without giving too much away.

There is always the danger of getting our hopes too high, but this is sounding (and looking!) better by the week.

Thanks, that was great. She is a wonderful Supergirl, sigh why couldn't they have used her more. Anyway like the idea that she is the one teaching some things to Clark. After all she is technically older :D

Of course, that's what all the Superman fans are up in arms about. Per the mythos, he's supposed to teach her everything. She's supposed to be the kid and he's the mature and accomplished adult.

Personally, I like the reverse spin Smallville has put on the mythos. Actually, more than a spin -- they've tossed most of it out.

To some fanatical Superman fans, that's like burning the Quran or the Bible. To me, its simply a refreshing alternative, especially since I've been trying for two decades to reinterpret the concept of a supergirl in various ways in my writing.

And yes, I agree that Laura is just about the perfect actress for Supergirl, given her gymnastics background and fitness, plus her willingness to do her own stunts and flying scenes, and her identification with the character. And she clearly loves the role and would like to do much more.

We can only dream that she'll get a shot at playing Kara in a movie while she's still the right age. I think the character is ready, DC Comics/Warner is doing a decent job of developing the character in the comics and shows like Smallville. Plus young, empowered females are acceptable to a mass audience these days.

But unfortunately, previous movies about superheroines have always bombed. All due to bad writing and directing, but that doesn't change the fact.

Maybe we just have to work through the vampire theme before Hollywood will go back to rework some iconic characters like Supergirl.

The cool thing is that we have technology like was used on Avatar now.

I think that opens a door to a really fantastic movie that has the ultimate freedom that comes with animation (which says that special effects are limited only by imagination, not budget or physics) combined with a great role actress like Laura.

In the meantime, we have the animation movie Superman/Batman: Supergirl due out in a week or so. I've just re-read the trade paperback, and it appears they stuck closely to that excellent script. That kind of animation won't have the realistic visuals that we crave, but it should be entertaining while we wait for the "real thing".

Couldn't agree with your assessment more regarding LV as Supergirl! In terms of the fans being in an uproar, I like to think its more of the TV show fans than the comic fanboys. The Kryptonsite boards hate anything that is not "Tom Weiling"-driven :P

As for the animated movie, I've seen an advanced copy and it is BY FAR the best animated comic-based DVD ever put out -- hands down!! They stick VERY close to Turner's story and the animation and action scenes are unreal!!

I won't spoil for anyone, but its well worth the $$$ to order the DVD (see my other link). I've seen it and I still have the DVD on order and cannot wait to see it again!!

I can only hope this coincidental re-emergence of Kara/Supergirl around the same time (Smallville episode is a few weeks after the DVD release) is a sign that they are plannign something 'bigger' for the character. WB/DC recently announced they were gonna have a 'major annoucement' concerning their DC properties' slate coming up in about a month from now, so maybe if DVD sales are good and Smallville's ratings for "Supergirl" are good..... who knows...
