Well, she certainly has the height, hopefully she'll put on some muscle tone for the role, especially if it has any strength scenes. I always figured that a gal should have some muscle showing if she's going to be performing super-human stunts. Hurley would make a good villainess as she can possess that certain nonchalant wickedness about her, similar to some of the scenes in Bedazzled. She can also tone up nicely as well.

I am a basketball coach. And as basketball coaches say: "You can't coach height." The most toned 5'7' woman isn't a good fit as WW.

Im a fan of women with super powers. I think that might go without saying. But an Amazon with the strength of Superman...Cmon...really? When did that happen?

If I had to guess...Some femenist movement was like.."Well! Why can't Wonderwoman be as strong as Superman?" and Dc bought it. I wont. Wonderwoman with the same powers as Superman is a farce.

Or John Byrne hangs out here under another nom de plume. As much as it pains me to say, I kinda agree. Supes and kryptonians are kinda in class by themselves, IMO. Though it was nice to see them making Kara possibly stronger than him...;)

Unfortunately for lovers of female strength, the guys over at DC Comics agree with you, as the new version of Wonder Woman has very limited, if any super strength. In the latest issue it was shown a minotaur was stronger than her. Let's hope the pilot doesn't follow this trend.

Well, considering that the post-crisis version of Diana isn't exactly an amazon, but more of a golem empowered by 5 greek goddesses and one god (Hermes), making her super-strong isn't that much of a stretch.

This is Dr. Lazarus for SuperWomenMania. As you all know, or should know by now, actress Adrianne Palicki will be playing Wonder Woman in David E. Kelley’s new series about the Amazon Princess. I met with Adrianne to talk about the show, and to set the record straight.

SuperWomenMania: Yo, Adrianne! Sorry, I couldn’t resist.

Adrianne Palicki: (laughs) It’s ok, I get that a lot.

SWM: Ok, so you’re Wonder Woman. How the hell does it feel?

AP: In a word: awesome! In two words: super awesome!

SWM: I’ll bet. So tell me, are you a fan of character?

AP: Oh sure. Well, I admit, I was always more of a Superigirl fan, but I do love Wonder Woman. It’s all about Grrrl Power, baby! (laughs) Also, I liked the Lynda Carter series.

SWM: Lynda Carter series? You’re far too young to remember that! I mean you’re not an old fart, like me.

AP: (laughs) Ever hear of reruns? I thought she did a great job, despite what any comic book nerds might say.

SWM: Oooh.

AP: (laughs) Sorry! No offense to comic book nerds, who I love, by the way.

SWM: None taken, I’m sure. I agree with you though, I thought Lynda was great. But tell us about your Wonder Woman.

AP: Well, it’s kind of a new and different take on Wonder Woman. Don’t worry, she’s still Wonder Woman. It’s just that David wanted to approach the character in a fresh way.

SWM: Such as …

AP: Well, for one, the series isn’t going to take itself too seriously. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not going to be totally campy like the Batman series from the ‘60s or anything like that. Far from it. There will just be some new and interesting ideas to keep even non-fans of the character tuning in.

SWM: Hip ideas?

AP: (shrugs) If you want to use that word, yeah sure.

SWM: As you are probably aware, Wonder Woman has been around for a long time, and has undergone some changes. In some versions of the comics, she is just about as strong as Superman, and can also fly like him. So, what powers will your Wonder Woman have, hmm?

AP: Yeah I know a bit about Wonder Woman’s history. David insisted I do my homework. (laughs) While I admit she won’t be doing any flying, unless it’s in her corporate jet or helicopter, she will be strong. Maybe not Superman levels, but powerful.

SWM: Really, because there’s been talk on the SWM forum about what the extent of her powers might be …

AP: Oh yeah I know all about that. I’ve been reading the forum! (laughs)

SWM: Get out of town. So what’s your username?

AP: Well, I’m not actually a member, but a, uh, friend is, and he let’s me use his account.

SWM: A friend? Would this friend’s initials be DEK?

AP: (laughs) I’m not telling!

SWM: Ok, ok. So then you’re also probably aware of some of the criticism that’s been leveled against you. Such as, you’re not muscular enough, you’re not being tall, or “statuesque” enough, yada yada yada.

AP: Yes, I know all about that.

SWM: Care to respond?

AP: Sure. First off, I have to say that I don’t really understand them. I mean, I don’t recall Wonder Woman being all that muscular. I mean, Lynda Carter wasn’t, was she? Who do they want, Miss Olympia ? Ok, I have nothing against muscular women, or even a muscular Wonder Woman, I just don’t think it should be a requirement to play the character. After all, she got her powers from the Gods , not from Gold’s Gym. (laughs) And the height issue I really don’t get. I mean, I’m frickin’ 5'11". Who the do they want, Margo Dydek? [Margo Dydek is a 7’2” tall WNBA player — SWM]

SWM: You tell ‘em, baby!

AP: I’m sorry, but this sort of stuff just bugs me.

SWM: Oh, me too. Well, I guess that about wraps things up. Any final thoughts?

AP: Uh, just that I really hope your readers tune in, and give the show a chance. I’m sure they’ll love it.

SWM: Sounds good. Well Adrianne, thank you so much.

AP: Anytime. I love you SWM guys! Muah!

SWM: And we love you, too.

And so this concludes another fake interview. This is Dr. Lazarus reminding you that, she ain’t really super unless she can flick you with her finger. Buh-bye.
