Who did you confirm it with?
Other sources are saying it has not been picked up. Maybe we'll know more tomorrow...

I wonder if we'll ever see this pilot?

There's a lot of crap being talked about WW being unnecessary in a post-Ripley, post-Buffy landscape, but I don't see Superman or Batman having to justify their existence for their umpteenth reboot. She's a good character and an iconic character and she deserves her shot.
I think David E. Kelley was always a horrible choice to helm the series. The only thing he has going for him is his ability to get shows on the air (inexplicably so in some cases).

Would've been nice to get a WW TV show out of the whole popularity surge, but I'm not gonna get too upset. I don't even watch TV anyway.
Lynda Carter got me all fetished out for Wonder Woman when I was a kid because that's how it works - but I could give a shit about Wonder Woman on TV today. Sure that Adrienne girl was hot and I, for one, liked her butt in that workout pantsuit thing. But I'm a grown up now (a weird perverted one, but still). TBH I'd rather read Infinity Girl fanfic on teh internet and watch crappy knockoff porn vids. Maybe that's just me though :/

However, it was the reaction of WW "fans" and other random people on the internet that really surprised me. I mean, it seemed like every story on every site would generate dozens of comments from people insulting the character, insulting Ms. Palicki, stating that "they weren't going to watch", etc...
I hope those people's lives are significantly improved now that they've succeeded in keeping Wonder Woman off the air.
A couple of worries going forward for superheroine projects and specifically Wonder Woman; the most well-known:
- I seriously doubt that we will see Wonder Woman on either our small or big screens any time soon. I mean, look at the list of individuals who have tried and failed with her: Joel Silver, Joss Whedon, and David E Kelley (I'm sure I'm missing others). I fear she will be branded as a lost cause at DC/WB...
- Who will want to play Wonder Woman now after seeing the torment that Adrianne Palicki went through? I mean, I couldn't believe some of the things said about her on the internet. I know, in a way, that is part of the deal if you're an actress but I didn't expect it to that degree. Why put yourself through that if you don't have to?
- If they can't get WW to the big or small screen, does any other superheroine have a chance at getting their own show or movie? I seriously doubt it.
It may be that our particular genre will have to remain on the internet only and never branch out into the mainstream. It's a shame really because we don't denigrate women like the bondage sites do so you would think it would work in today's society.
Oh well, sorry for the rant. I'm just kind of depressed right now...

I have to agree with you. I don't follow any tv shows anymore. TV is not my pastime since the internet and video games. I rather watch the superheroine knock-off videos that our friends on these sites create.yohashuan wrote: The whole Superhero genre is getting played out. Remember the hope (and hype) at having Kara on Smallville, especially in season 7? A full-blown Kryptonian female flying around and using her strength and not hiding behind a secret identity. Kara was just Kara.
But the writers/producers didn't have a clue how to use that kind of powerful character, other than to make her go away to avoid stealing thunder from a half crippled Clark/Kal.
Better to focus on our own content creation, whether that's stories, pictures or videos.
To ease the pain, here's an excerpt from a story I'm writing for the May contest... we never would have seen action like this in the WW series:

I have to disagree about the last point - and partially on the first - WW has been a problematic character since the beginning of the 50s. At the time the DC had to close a ton of series either from problems with the Comics Code Authority and/or for low selling, Batman and Superman were the only two characters that were able to come through quite well, but the big brass of the DC decided to slavage Wonder Woman too. Why? According to some people, because they thought she had potential.
Pretty much since then WW had experienced some major troubles and many authors considered her a "loaded" character. Still they keep pushing her with mixed results.
Other heroines are considered more manageable, either for being linked to a "more solid" character (like Supergirl) and/or less difficult to write. Even so I'm the first to recognize that there's a definite lack of heroines iconic enough to be considered (at least none that isn't part of team).

However, I don't see how the powers that be at the studios and DC could interpret this latest WW failure any differently.
Put yourself at the head of WB, you recruit a major hollywood producer (Joel Silver) to bring WW to the big screen. After a decade of messing around, he finally admits that he is unable to do it right. Then you move onto Joss Whedon, a guy familiar with writing strong female leads. After a couple of years, he admits that he can't do it either.
Now you decide to set your sights lower and recruit one of the most successful television producers (David E Kelley) to bring her to the small screen. He comes up with a slightly different take on the character (but at least he comes up with something) that is widely panned even though it is essentially the same character. He even tries "listening to the fans" by changing the script and costume but nothing is ever good enough and it eventually flames out and is not picked up for a series.
How would you interpret that track record? If I was unbiased, I think I would say, screw WW and her "fans". If these three can't succeed, then what is the point of trying again?
The sad part is that I'm afraid WW's failures will cast a shadow over all potential superheroine projects.
Those who said that the content provided by our friends here is better do have a point. However, I would love to see what a big budget superheroine movie would look like and what awesome effects they could come up with.

Sad to say, it probably drilled a nail in the short term coffin of every proposed female comic lead (Supergirl, Jessica Jones, etc.) that was even in the minds of anyone....
It's pretty easy to see that WB doesn't really hold high regard for the character....they've circle jerked their way 10+ years in toying with the movie concept and we're still at square zero. They decided to put her in animated form and then quickly declared her sales as terrible, announcing they'd never focus on female leads again in their DVD's -- this in spite of the fact it has outsold Green Lantern's DVD and they award him with a movie. Finally, WB's own network CW doesn't even order the script to pilot for their character.
People thinking this is a good thing and it paves the way for a better treatment in another series try or on the big screen. I think are living on another planet. I hope to god, I'm wrong, but I see this as a terrible thing for the possibility of seeing WW (or Supergirl or someone else) in mainstream TV, which is a shame.
In Shadar in saying the series wouldn't satisfy us with "what we like to see", I tend to disagree with his Kara analogy. Kara on Smallville was a supporting character and not the lead. Arguably, some of the best uber-clips that people post/remember are from the old WW series. While the show could never live up to our imaginations, I think it would been pretty good.
And while I heart the amateur producers in our genre, let's be pragmatic in that they cannot recreate certain aesthetics (or budgets) that full time productions can. For that, I'm bummed we won't be seeing the series....

CW -- owned by WB and might not have to pay for licensing with "real dollars" (I dunno)
SyFy -- Owned by NBC, but I think WW would be too high-budget for them...
In aeither case, I think its very slim....

Cable outlets seem to be the best option for the series since their standards for ratings "success" is far lower than the over-the-air networks. The worst case scenario is that the pilot ends up on the internet for download (much like the failed Aquaman pilot).
