Ruby Rose Leaves Batwoman

I'm waiting on the bluray to watch it, but the general chatter seems quite negative. So now i/m wondering if it's worth the 20 euro i usually end up paying for dc series.

Ultimately thats your decision to make.

If you want my opinion (which I have made no secret of) its - Save your money.  The show is stupid and utter trash on every level.

She'd still be gay and all story lines can continue as normal.

This assuming Ruby is willing to do a couple of scenes to set it all up, but even without it could work.

Comics have a half-trillion ways to do this along with your methods, a brain/soul swap, switching with a dimensional analog (who looks different but is "mostly the same person"), or as you said, just straight-up reality alteration ....You could just start an episode with a mini-crisis aftershock that alters some things.. one of which is the new actress is now Batwoman/Kane w/ some personality changes (So the actress doesn't have to try act like Ruby's version).  For fun, you could include it in other shows and use it to make minor changes that the writers might want to make.  Some of those changes could even revert ... which gives you free rein to have absolute fun for an episode.

And if the Legends meet the new Batwoman they can go "who is this?"

Since Batwoman was a "Paragon" it would sort of make sense that she might be a target for some of the energy bounding around.

I do wonder if Ruby Rose would come back for a scene -- but even so you don't NEED her. 

Or You can use the Fresh Prince Aunt Viv method, just replace her.  Then have a character make a comment "did you change your hair?"

(or Roseanne w/ Becky, etc. etc.)

This is probably easier to do in a Comedy ... and neither was the lead.

I do think that sometimes writer rooms try to think too much ... .OTH the show wasn't working so this is an effort to go to v2.  It just seems hokier than relying on comic tropes to swap the actress and making the changes you want to make, but keep them to tweaking Kane's personality and some of her backstory.

but seriously a move forward without the star character because you can't have a lead actress from the 1st season is the main reason why I hate Greg Berlanti being in this industry setting up arrowverse/DC properties

Both 1960s Mission Impossible and the 1990s Babylon 5 had successful runs after replacing their lead characters.
This might not be such a bad thing.

Personally I can't stand the backstory given here.
I would much rather see a good girl take up the BatWoman mantle.

For risk of reviving a dead thread, but the CW has released the first official images of Javicia Leslie in the batsuit. For the most part, it's the same as Ruby's, aside from some cosmetic changes, as well as restoring the neck covering.
