"Wanna dance?" Bruno, Raven's boyfriend, offered an outstretched hand when their song blasted out of the many boxes stationed around the dancefloor.

Raven shook her head as her eyes stared into nothingness while leaning against a wall.

"Everything fine?" Bruno placed a hand on her shoulder.

Raven's head whirled his way. "Yeah, of course! Why wouldn't I?"

"Look, I totally understand if you want to go after your sister. I won't blame anything."

"I said I was fine, didn't I?" Raven snapped.

"Well, you're not a very enjoyable company for someone who claims to feel fine!"

"Then go fetch me a drink or something." Raven waved her hand dismissively. "Maybe that will cheer me up."

Bruno made a scoffing noise. "Maybe I should! And while I'm at it, I could also guzzle down some rotguts myself!" Raven's boyfriend left with a determined stride, jostling into one of his friends, who looked surprised like he had done something to offend him.

Raven let out an extended breath. Then her eyes shifted when Cedric came strolling towards her. The friendly giant smiled at her and planted himself next to her while leaning on a bar table. He accompanied Raven in observing the party ground, where a mishmash of individuals meandered past them.

The majority of them were so juiced-up that having a decent conversation without needing to raise voices to unnecessary levels or repeating queries that had already been answered became a bridge too far.

"You've seen all of that, didn't you?" Raven asked.

Cedric nodded while taking a sip of his beer.

"I was a bitch, wasn't I?"

Cedric nodded again.

Raven produced a low groan making it known she felt bummed. "The poor thing."

"He'll get over it," Cedric reassured. "He has three sisters who are more difficult to deal with than a widow with five unruly kids during her period. He understands."

Raven sighed. "I should have stood up for her." She took a sip of her Coke. "How are your ribs, by the way?" She looked at him with concern.

Cedric winced as his hand traveled tenderly over the area where he had hit the wall after Josie roughly pushed him away. "It looks like there's going to be some pretty nasty bruising, I'm afraid," he said with a sigh.

Raven's countenance churned into a look of guilt. "I'm so sorry. That's got to hurt. I mean, I believe it does, judging by the look on your face. I never had anything like it, so I have no idea, actually."

"She was pulling punches, by the way," Raven added. "She could have smashed you through several walls if she wanted."

Cedric presented a rueful smile in reply.

The sound of a ruckus tore their eyes away from each other. Kim was at it again. They saw her publically ridiculing one of her thralls as payment for a seeming slip-up.

"You deserve better than her," Cedric said, nodding in Kim's direction, who was busy dismissing a crying girl.

Raven gave a peal of rueful laughter. "They call me the tough one. But it's Josie who’s the backbone of the two of us. She never shied away from charting her own path."

"Come, you got to see this!" A sudden voice called out.

Raven raised her head in a puzzled expression as a stir in the edge of her vision caught her attention. More and more people hushed their way toward a few individuals who showed something from the screen of their phones.

Raven and Cedric glanced at each other, shrugged, and followed their example.

"I can't see a thing!" Cedric expressed his discontent as he moved his head to and fro, trying unsuccessfully to get a better view through the forest of individuals circling around the one showing something from his cell phone.

"Oh my god!" Cedric looked over his shoulder with a frown as he saw Raven placing her hand in front of her mouth, glaring a face filled with shock. He then realized that Raven was using her powers to look through things, or rather, through people.

A large tv screen hanging on the wall flashed on. The music stopped as someone raised the tv's volume. A news reporter stood rambling fervently in the camera with a mic clasped in hand as people with uniforms stirred beyond her in the background, their faces illuminated by the bright red and blue beams of lightbars.

Aerial footage captured by a drone was shown, with the visuals of Dry Feet Crossing – the city's most prominent bridge – that seemed to have been torn in two in the middle as if it had been hit by a meteorite flashing down from the sky.

Luckily, there was hardly any traffic at the time of impact. No casualties have been reported thus far. There was, however, a van filled with people busy crossing the bridge when it all happened. The driver's reaction was prompt as he smashed the brake and spun the wheel to the side, hoping to screech to a halt right before the abyss. His effort proved to be in vain. The van tipped over on its side and grazed over the road, where it easily crossed the edge. The only thing preventing their demise is a stout, knotted steel rope that, by some stroke of luck, managed to attach the van through its side portals. Now it dangled there vertically, like a fish on a hook, with a pack of terrified people stacked upon one another at the bottom who were all praying to whoever they believed in that the back would not pop open to spill them out into the churning dark river 200 feet below.

Cedric grabbed Raven's shoulders. "You have to do something!"

Cedric's fiery reaction tore Raven's train of thoughts about Josie to the present moment. She'd considered it highly unlikely that some natural event had caused this. This was her sister's doing. And now it was asked of her to deal with this mess.

"Why me?" Raven shot back. "Because I can fly and am super strong?"

"Because you care, Raven. The rescue crew will never be able in time to save them. That cable will not hold out for long."

A collective cry of terror rose in the room as the van jolted and made a free fall of a few meters when the cable holding it was straining beneath its weight. The steel cable had only grip on one side now, making the van slightly tilt and rotate.

"Please," Cedric begged Raven. "You're the only one who can save them."

"But what about my life? I have to expose myself if I do. My life will never be the same again," Raven protested.

"These people's lives will be ended if you refuse to do anything!"

"We have a visual on a child here!" A voice spoke from the television's speaker. The drone filming it all got a clear shot deeper within the van. There they could see a child held by a woman, a little boy of roughly five years. That sight was enough to spur Raven into action. Cedric grabbed her shoulder before she could turn around and placed his car key in her hand. "My Dad's black Chevy still stands in the school's parking lot. On the passenger's seat, you will find a sports bag with a balaclava stuffed in it and–"

"Why the hell is there a balaclava in your dad's car?" Raven said.

"Not now," Cedric said firmly. "Grab it, don it. It will make your face unrecognizable. You will also find an overall that's excessively large for your figure, but it will have to do for the time being. Put that on as well."

Raven nodded gratefully. "Thank you,"

Cedric nodded in return and Raven dashed off, vanishing among the crowd towards the exit. Barely 30 seconds later, Cedric joined in the alarmed exclamations when the steel cable securing the van gave way, causing the vehicle to plummet. Then it ceased falling and hovered in midair for a moment before rising up. A figure covered in black became visible on the underside as it carried the vehicle with its hands.

"Damn, girl. You're fast," Cedric whispered in awe.

"That my girl?" Bruno's voice spoke in his ear, who had sneaked up to Cedric.

"You're damn right. But you do not tell anybody!" Cedric said firmly.

Bruno smiled and made a gesture as if he was zipping his lips close. "Look at her. So hot. That girl is a true Goddess," he said as he watched Raven placing the van on the bridge.

Cedric looked at his friend with a frown. "A thing like this excites you?"

"It turns my cock into an uncontrollable monster." Bruno smiled wickedly at Cedric. "Think about it. That slender girl can practically subjugate an entire nation in a day, swat whole armies like they are ants. Nothing would be able to stop her. A thing like that doesn't excite you?"

"…Not really," Cedric said dryly. "Raven knows all of this?"

Bruno nodded in agreement. "Oh, absolutely! We often role-play through the phone wherein she conveys her sinister schemes of taking control of the world, forcing people to worship her as a divinity someday. And next to her fancy man, I would also be her supreme priest, kind of like the pope, as I aid her in establishing a religion revolving around her. This would be our utopian."

"Sounds more like a dystopian for the rest of the world."

"Like I said, this would be our utopian."

Cedric shook his head in disbelief. "You're weird. You know that, right? You both are."

"Nothing new under the sun, right?" Bruno winked, took a sip of his beer, and licked the foam on his upper lip.

"Good thing a person like Kim does not have these powers," Cedric said.

Bruno looked at him with bulged eyes. "You believe a thing like that is possible? That Kim gets these powers."

"Why? Is it something you wish?"

"Well, she does fit the bill. I mean, look at her. Smoking hot, demanding. What if a person like her gets powers and becomes unstoppable."

"It would mean disaster!"

Bruno grabbed his friend's collar. "It would mean heaven, man!" he spat in his face, littering Cedric's cheeks with drops of beer.

Cedric made a sound of disgust and cleaned his cheeks. "Where are you going?" he said as Bruno dashed off.

"I'm going to take one good glance at Kim. From up close. Burn her image in my mind, and then I'm off to the bathroom."

Cedric frowned. "To do what?"

"To have some fun time with my cock, of course, as I imagine Kim taking over the planet as a dark Goddess!"
