New Ms. Marvel....umm......
www.comicbooktherapy.com/new-ms-marvel-m...&utm_medium=facebook
While I applaud Marvel for their diversification, this is not the Ms. Marvel I grew up loving or want to see -- I think....I'm still trying to wrap my head around Ms. M now being a teenage muslim chameleon. #cautiouslyunhappy

She assumed the name Captain Marvel a couple of years ago, along with a more practical costume. She has her own book and is an Avengers regular.

I doubt Carols Gone. Movie rummors, popular enough. I doubt with the Dead "Harley Quinn" in a bathub, story a couple months ago that Marvel will kill a female superhero anytime soon.

And by "kills" I mean is removed from the story for a year or two before making a triumphant return. They did it to Thor, they did it to Captain America, heck they're currently doing it to Spiderman.
I mean I'm not gonna panic because Carol will always be back. But I wouldn't put it past them to "kill" her for a year or two.

The Ms. Marvel name has been laying fallow since Carol became Captain Marvel, so why not re-use it? Gives a little bump to the character and they built it into the backstory that she idolized Carol Danvers.

Right On BIONICSKILLZ! It's great to see somebody with some BionicBallz! I want the classic Ms. Marvel back along with her tight fitting skimpy costume!

The comic market is so bad with all these stunts and they wind up burying the industry. The media acts like it has balls but, please! Nothing truly from the heart comes out of this medium of late.
Comics pretty much forever has been all about "lets throw things agianst the wall and sees what sticks". The two major publishers have done probabbly close to a thousand titles over the years -Remmber Machine Man, or I vampire, or Frankiensiten, Agent of S.H.A.D.E. They do this stuff, sometimes well sometimes better.
And this is not just the last 10 years this has been litterally since the 40s. Comics is littered with characters who have gotten two issues. I think this has changed a little bit-back then when Airman appeared in the 40s newspapers didn't cover it in any great detail.
in terms of playing with existing character-this is what marvel Does-since the 60s and everything they have done is more or less a soap opera-That has been Stan Lees M.O. love it or hate it. and that calls for TWIST ENDING after TWIST ENDING.
And has been more less Ms. Marvels M.O in particular. She often seems like a slightly self aware character in a soap opera.
But now a new character-and yeah why not sure.

I didn't really like that idea. But now, after realising that they're just recycling her old Alias, I'm fine with it. Actually, I don't get why it's even a big deal. Caucasians are a minority part of the world population, but they are severely overrepresented among super-powered beings. I'm just going to assume that sometime during the last few years both DC and Marvel managed to hire people who actually understand statistics.
I would love to see Captain Marvel meet up with Ms. Marvel and poke fun at some reporters that have the same problem in the Marvel universe that most people seem to have in the comments sections of the internet. - Being unable to realize that nobody is dead, going to die or be replaced or whatever.

Well the writer is a Muslim himself, so I think that they might be playing it safe, for now.

To designate a character to a particular religion means that you'll have to address the Religion in your story line. Obviously you are going to show your religion in a positive light. Considering that the majority of people who buy comics are under 20, what exactly is the intention?
But lets put this in prospective...This is offensive no matter what color you paint it.
Introducing, Super Catholic Girl? Republican Liberty? Jehovah's Marvel? Democratic Justice....He's a man but with a donkey head!
Cmon! Really?
I haven't been this upset since somebody suggested Squirrel girl would be a great movie.

If any retcon has happened to Ms. Marvel, at least in my opinion, it happened when she changed her name. And well, if I change my Forum name to AliasMcRetcon or something, that is not really a retcon, is it?
On the religious issue... Well, I think I'm an atheist. But in contrast to the more outspoken atheists out there, I have accepted the fact that mankind is deeply stupid. So I don't give a damn about what invisible friend someone believes in and tries to propagate, as much as most people won't care about my thoughts on humanity's chances of survival or what should be done about it.
Of course I should shut up about that part, since, due to working in ecological and climatological research by now, it's pretty much my job to win people over to my view of these things.

Beside the point that that would exclude me from being an agnostic, not an atheist, you're right. Global Warming is the worst offending theology currently out there.
And I can say that, because no researcher worth his salt has been talking about Global Warming for at least a decade, except to tell people that it's not about Global Warming. It's called climate change. Some regions get warmer, some get colder, some get floods, some get draughts, some get storms on a unprecedented scale, some see a decline in those.
One problem is that most regions getting warmer have a lot of surface ice and most that get colder are still to warm to form new glaciers and/or don't get sufficiently significant precipitation to matter, so even if the rise in global average temperature will be lower than expected decades ago, we're probably still going to get a rise in sea levels. (Just to address what you were probably thinking about. If you'd like to continue this discussion, we should move to another thread or something.)

Unlike many in SWM, I'm never offended. So I actually appreciate that comment. Its an acknowledgment that, clearly, I offended you. So I apologize for that...And clearly...we are in agreement.
Climate change? You mean that thing that been happening for a billion years...Yeah...I agree with you on that as well
