I don't know whether Darwyn Cooke's new series
The Spirit is faithful to the original stories by Will Eisner, but it's great fun. Truth be told, it's the only current DC title I actually enjoy and look forward to each month. Cooke's art is "cartoony," but informed by a great sense of design, his storytelling is fast-paced and witty, and his characters are funny and engaging. Just what a comic book ought to be, IMO.
No ubergirls "as such" -- but of the four issues published so far, three feature strong, smart, beautiful women -- each of whom gets the better of the title character in some way. Here's CIA agent Silk Satin, from the cover of #4 --
