On a PC I have tried IE, FF, and Chrome and for the life of me I can't figure out how to update my avatar/icon. Does anyone have navigation tips? I've been to my profile and every editing tab and just can't figure it out.

You should go to the menu at the top of the home page. Under the "My Stuff" tab choose My Profile.
From the new page choose "Update".
Then go to the portrait tab.
