I would comment to those filmmakers out there-hey investing in a red camera to buy or rent isn't a bad idea. It does make things look damm epic. Yes slightly grey, But epic:)

I'm a big fan of the F65 from sony, for me it's a better camera than either the red one or red epic.
the Arri Alexa is a good option if you are not a big fan of the sony.
and no one mention either the Canon Cinema EOS C500 or Blackmagic Cinema Camera, the canon is nothing to write home about and the Blackmagic has too many compromises to be useful, except in very narrow areas.

Fats -- I definitely agree about the BC camera. Beautiful picture, but far too many drawbacks to be a flexible solution (swappable battery please)!
Cheers,

Rileah Vanderbilt looks like a good fit and build for the part. Her twitter feed is fun too.
As far as cameras - I guess I'll just have to trudge along with my piece of junk.

This is a very impressive piece of film- not Fan film, Action short, Superheroine film- Its just visually amazing. Virtually every frame looks gorgeous . One sometimes here the expression-this looks like a Hollywood movie-it doesn't. But it somehow looks more awesome.
From the burning street sign to the vague monster, the special effects all look great. but you also do a good job of not quite focusing on the spectacle. We never get the perfect beauty shot, which really works for it. Its never real :Even downtown LA has a slight toybox quality, next to CGI island. but that works for it. A Hollywood movie would have strived to make it all look a little boring. You make her battling thugs feel epic.
The Fight Choreography is well done. So is the music. The costuming is good and not just Wonder Womans. In something so short its hard to judge the performances, but Rileah does a good job of being godlike and ethereal-her performances matches everything else. It feels like shes wonder woman in the comics which.
I guess my big critique of it, is its kind of short. It would be nice to have dialogue, characters a real plot. The critique people sometimes hear of Diana(which i don't buy) is that shes visually iconic but doesn't do well talking and breathing. But i think you have gotten the spectacle down easy and 90 minutes of this i think would make a 100 million dollars. That is a business model we can support.
I hope you get your chance at some point-you defeintly have made a good demo reel for that.

Markiehoe wrote: ONE and a HALF MILLION views in a little more than one day! Yet Warner Brothers believes there is no interest in a Wonder Woman movie.
and this is not the first time this has happened. Last year there was a Fake trailer that got a couple of million hits, and about couple of years before did one as well(both where very diffrent but still).
I would like to see a flash movie-but do you see any flash trailers that do anything like this? The big intrest in guardians of the galaxy or Antman?
If i where to guess what really helps things like this is that Wonderwomans probabbly in the top 10 of superhero awareness- but nope. Visually intresting but you can't do a story. Nope.
As an off topic aside- a couple of weeks ago i was watching a parody trailer with Audry Plaza playing a grownup Daria of the show of the same name. And realized that it had more comic potential then i have ever seen in an audry plaza movie-it would be a great potential movie(speaking as someone who never actually watched but was casually aware of the original show). The point is there is so much potential in stuff like this. Just peoples ability to work and create.
I would say that if people keep doing this-someday.maybe. maybe.

However, I too wish that it included dialogue with some hint as to WW's motivations for coming to Man's World and why that Minotaur was attacking Paradise Island.
The only reason I say that is because I think WB can handle "action scenes" involving WW. What they have no clue about, however, is how to approach the character story wise. If a fan film becomes really popular, like this one appears to be, then it might push WB even more to get her on the big screen if it dropped some hints for a story.

Okay at the risk of getting things thrown at me, i will say i don't hate the pilot. The fight scene at the end, had some obvious temp special effects, but i will go so far as to say it was pretty well done. The visual look wasn't bad Palacki is an actress who strangely who i have seen better stuff before and since, but she wasn't a bad choice for the part.
Its main problem is the central kind of problem with addopting wonder woman. Is how do you humanize her? Its not something that has ever worked perfectly in the comics, but they went a little overboard with it. Or peraps more corectly declaring it. Its one thing to have her eat ice cream and worry about her teath, its another to have her whinning about it and never really showing the alternative.
I was going to compare it to Forever 16 which is another obviously failed pilot, which used similar device-there they did the same thing but it worked a better becuse they didn't quite take it as a given. They made vampire at its center an actual vampire, and make people scared of her, and she a bit scared of herself. When she whined in that, it felt a little bit earned, and you could see the weridly human character behind her. It was something the wonder woman pilot only got very fleating glimpses at the end, becuse it never let her be an actual wonder.
Which is something that this short doesn't really try. Which is okay for a 2 minute movie-it kept her godlike- a character in a 300 inspired world who can do amazing things without really blinking. Yet at the shot at the end when she does the gun dodge with her braclet. That kind of worked becuse there was just a shadow of an emotion. of fear. Wonder woman kind of works as a character becuse of that shadow. She may be a perfect woman in an imperfect world but she really works becuse of this.
This is why these kind of shorts get so many hits. This is why we still talk about the pilot-which got more mainstream attention then a lot of shows that get full seasons- becuse there is something there.
You just have to figure out the mix.
and i do hope these rainfall guys get the chance to do more with this. If nothing else Rileah does a good job with that look.

I think that Castor nailed most of the pros and cons about WW, compared to her male counterparts (Bats and Supes) she's a really hard character to pinpoint because it's really hard to get the audience to empatize with her.
Allow me elaborate a bit: both Batman and Superman have a very human side that is both well known and sort of easy to put into words.
Superman might be an alien, but his culture, his morals and his way of thinking are purely human (at least that's how I see him). What set him apart are just his powers. In a world were the yellow sunlight wouldnt have granted him powrs, Clark Kent would have probably become a policeman or a firefighter, because of his human heritage. His moral choices are something we can relate to (although on much smaller scale).
Batman is quite the opposite. In terms of morality and way of thinking, he's a complete alien. Still, under the mask he's just human, which makes his physical challenges a good way to engage the audience.
Now on to Wonder Woman. In a sense she's a complete alien. Physically she's an immortal and invincible demi-goddess (or something very close to it), which makes hard for the people to idenitfy with her in this sense. Mentally she hails from a culture that is distant and sometimes incomprehensible for us. Still, she's supposed to strive to make a connection with those around her, which resulted in some questionable use of the character. The dreaded pilot tried it's best to capture this side of the character: the need for a human contact, but forgot the semi-divine element. Which, in a sense, was pretty much the opposite of what this short do.

What you are describing is Thor(which is a comparision that has been made before).
Diffrent style of personality but the same idea for the character. The divine coming to earth.
they made a very sucseful and prety good movie out about him and are right now doing a sequel. It can be certainly be done
Which goes to a point i think that can work. Most good wonder woman stories have two elements.
1. What ever Wonder Woman is fighting is a threat. The short did capture it- terrists criminals on the street with guns. Check. Werid mytholgical monsters. Check. She has to take this threat seriously but can overcome it.
2. She has a desire to connect with the world that she doesn't completly understand. She wants to make it better, and save it, but while she has a plan of how to do it, that plan doesn't survive contact with society.
Both of these elements to a degree work better as a film-short full length both work. The desire to make it a TV show i can understand(last week i named 7 shows about women with supernatural powers, and there about two or three more), but in someways its a complete native.
Act 1 she decides to come to earth
Act 2- She tries to make Earth a beter place. She fails.
Act 3- She pulls herself together accept imperfections and saves the day.
you couldn't do that every week. But i do think thats pretty easy to do as a movie. You would have to have a little courage in investing in it, but its certainly doable.
and with what 3 million hits in like 72 hours i suspect theres intrest in it.
