Me too, Mo! I think she's gonna be great in the role if the writers step up!

As i have said Supergirl lives or dies on the choices the show makes, and she makes-but i think its in good hands here.

I can't wait to watch the Glee clip. I've not seen her act in anything yet.

Here it is. Melissa Benoist as Marley (Wallflower):

OTH, she's pretty nice to watch. Nice seeing the contrast between here and the "catwoman" in the clip -- she definitely carries more physical presence.
Seems like she'll do just fine.

Second goal will be to make it through a full season of episodes.
What I like so far is the concept. It's fresh territory for Kara, especially with the unusual family dynamics with her sister, with Jimmy as love interest, with Kara working for Cat, who will likely be a full-on alpha female Some of that echoes the comics, some of it is new, but we've NEVER seen a portrayal of Kara Zorel where she's been hiding her abilities for the better part of a decade and now wants to come out of the closet.
Next major stop along the way will be the Pilot production. Perhaps we'll see some leaks around that time that might give us further clues.

One thing that I can say is that Melissa is going to be spending some time in the gym to tighten up, not to bulk up just look a little fitter.
Things are looking good for us who want to see ubergirls in the mainstream media.

Also, I'm praying for a Red Lantern arc. I know it's a long shot but this has to happen

I would vote against you on that one. I intensely dislike the Red Lantern spin. I like Kryptonian powers just as they are.

Does this mean I have to get rid of my Claire Holt avatar? She still looks like Kara to me.

I felt like the Red Lantern thingy was one of the few good things that happened to Supergirl in the New 52, along with the Cyborg Superman arc.
But of you're talking about it fetishistically, yeah, I'd have to agree with you

I didn't like the Red Lantern arc for many reasons, one being that her Kryptonian powers are greater and more interesting that being a Red Lantern. They did seem to use it to try to do something good and that was stop having Supergirl be so angry all the time. But it feeds back into my problem: the only way the writers could see for her to learn how to cope with her anger is to turn her into a Red Lantern and come back from that, as opposed to doing what everyone else does, and actually cope. They could even have taken cues from Korra and have it take bit (Korra doesn't recover from her PTSD immediately, she works at it the entire 4th season). This would then be actually writing and character development... You can also use it to underscore how much of a putz Superman has been to her in the new DC52, and maybe have Superman take a long hard look at himself, and then buckle down and do better.
(I'm not very happy with the current Wonder Woman storyline either.)
I'm still on the fence on the SG current storyline, but it's already better than the characterization that went before. Supergirl has every reason to be angry and angsty, her entire world got blown up. This is NOT true for Superman, he lost something that he never knew, Supergirl was raised there. But in the past, justifiable or not, she never let that get to her (or rather, didn't take her anger out on other people).
BTW, this is one of my reservations about the plot of the Supergirl show. We don't know how old she was when she was adopted. It's making it sound like it was pretty young. This looses/deemphasizes the thing that makes Supergirl different from Superman -- she's not only Kryptonian genetically, but culturally too.
But, that said, she's being adapted to this story, like every other character to a new arc/medium/story. I really can't knock it/judge it, until I've seen it. It's just one factor of the show, if the other factors play well, it'll dwarf my concerns.

If the pilot features even 5 minutes of Melissa looking as beautiful as this then I'll be happy

Then I thought through where the script is likely to go given the actors... Kara as Cat Grant's shy, mousy, unconfident, put-upon assistant who everyone dumps on. Melissa can do that. As the little sister of intelligent, dominant Alexa (obviously destined to fill the Lex Luthor role), always put down and constrained by her older sister, always told to hide her abilities. OK. Melissa can do that too.
But as an alien superhuman who emerges to manifest Superman-grade powers? A total, TOTAL fail. No chance in hell of her pulling that off given her physical presence or anything I've seen of her do as an actress.
Laura Vandervoort, looks a bit alien and is believable as a werewolf, a lethal lizard wearing a human suit, or as a Kryptonian who doesn't fit in or even like Earth very much. She was brilliant. You get her at first glance. She has a slightly dangerous look. She's not really one of us.
Melissa has zero of those traits. I think this show only works with Melissa if its 95% about Kara Danvers, the insecure little sister and harried assistant to more powerful characters. Someone nobody respects. The 5% of her in uniform will only work because of the uniform (if they work at all).
If that's where the producers are going, then this show is DOA before it starts, at least for me.
Nearly as bad, we have the alpha-male love-interest James Olsen (not Jimmy, the sidekick). Jimmy is one of the most iconic sidekicks in all of comic history (only Robin did it better). Now he's going to be the hot, confident guy that Kara has this big, secret crush on? Total, absolute BS.
I'm OK spinning Lex into Alexa (want to bet some people call her Lexi?). She'll know just how to slip the knife to Kara, knowing her weaknesses, just like Lex always could.
Bottom line, CBS has always had their head up their butts, and its clear now that hasn't changed. If this show was on CW or even Fox, it might have a chance. But CBS is already heading down its usual path towards mushy formulaic romantic pandering to older female viewers who wish they still had a life.
By the way, congrats to Lfan and Fats who scooped the actress for Kara -- nice work. Just sorry it turned out to be Melissa.
Here's betting they won't even pronounce Kara's name right. It's not Kare-ah, but rather Kah-ra. Soft A. Here's betting the writers and director don't even know that.

I remain optimistic. It's almost surreal that we're analyzing the casting for a Supergirl TV show. That's amazing.
