Honestly I don't understand this whole spoiler methodology we get here.
The people writing the episode and the people running the marketing and social media aren't the same people. They also have different goals.
I do wish that they'd line up things, and not stomp on setup in the episode.
A recent Arrow was partially ruined for me as I saw the name of the guest hero. it was still one of the better episodes, but knowing the guest and seeing the promo and I already knew half the plot, and part of it was supposed to be a surprise I think. So I told a friend to NOT read anything about the episode and just watch it (it happens to be one of his favorites, so I knew he'd enjoy it more if it was a surprise).
OTH, if a story NEEDS the surprise to be good, then it can be good, but not great and it won't stand up to repeated viewing.
I think this is a little surprise and doesn't matter in the long run. (i.e. That scene will play well if you rewatch it and already know.)

Overall, really liking this season. Some good character arcs and dynamics in play.
Peace.

P.S. And the ending kinda got me too, though when I saw her in the room, it clicked seconds before she mentioned it.

The sexual innuendo is fun, both the Lena / Kara / SG thing, which will likely get complicated, and the very believable and very nicely written and acted Maggie / Alex interplay.
Then there was the Mon El and Miss Tesmacher moment in the utility room, with a veiled hint of Niven's Man of Steel Woman of Kleenex moment. "Mike" is going to be an interesting character now that he gets to do what he wants to find his place on Earth. Likely it won't be anything Kara approves of.
(Although I will say that Kara's reaction to sexual situations, from the beginning of Season 1 to now, is a bit childish. She's ready to barf every time things get remotely sexual. Not sure why they exaggerate her reactions like that unless they are positioning her for some discoveries about herself. Maybe they'll throw a little Laural Gand xenophobia about intimacy into the mix.)
The really poorly written and acted character is James. He's not the kind of person Cat would have put in charge. The hard-bitten editor (don't remember his name) that Kara had issues with in previous show had a Perry White vibe and was very believable for someone leading a media company. But James is a total fail. Nice people don't have that kind of job or act that way. Very unbelievable.
Then there's his thing about him really wanting to be a superhero and all that. Weak. Not convincing. Everything involving James is a fail for me, but the rest of the show is quite entertaining now. A lot of good writing outside of James.
I like the fact that they are doing deeper development of more subplots and characters than just Kara, and the show will be richer for it when they fold all these subplots back together.
I'm also OK with a lesser role for J'onzz. I don't think he's a great character and his writing is also weak. Maybe the writers can't handle male roles very well. But with the good writing in all roles involving female characters, it makes up for it. Mostly.
One last minor gripe. They keep making SG weak. Having to be saved by someone else. She should be the one saving everyone else when they get in trouble. I know what they are trying to do, but I think they've gone overboard.
At this point I'm finally ready to say that the move to CW was a good one.

That would be Snapper Carr I believe. Biography
And I agree, so far I think he would have been a more reasonable choice, but gotta give Jimmy something to do
Peace.

I always wished they'd portray Jimmy in the traditional sense. A sidekick who's a kickass new photog who needs to be saved once in a while when he gets in too deep.

I'm not really feeling this "Olsen as a hero" arc they are painting. Like you said, I too found his motivation to be weak and not very well played out.
Guess its just one of those arcs that I won't pay attention to this season (like the Kara-James love triangle last season). Luckily, there seems to be a few good arcs shaping this season - Kara/Lena; Alex/Maggie; even Jon/Meghan. And ofc the whole Cademus arc. So plenty to look forward too
Peace.

The problem is the same as why they largely abandoned it in the comics-its not superman-or this case supergirl. And it can distract from the story.A lot of the theroy at the time was that most of the audience for supergirl comics was kids, so it makes sence to have a kid character-but it never quite worked. And Supergirl herself is really presented as the viewpoint character.
If you look at IMDB Merced Brooks is the second lead of the show.I think you could make a case last Year he was a bigger actor then Mellissa Benoist. The desire to give him something to do on the show is important-cause well he doesn't actually have that much. If hes not the shows rommantic lead(which last year he did okay, but nothing so spectacularly)...Well what he is on the show. A lot of TV shows have this kind of problem. They have a character but don't necessairly have a reason for him to be on the show any more. The assistant hero stuff is often done by Alex, the Friend and Confidant is done by Winn.
But you know let it figure it out-i doubt this is a long plotline, and well its better then turning him into an insect.
