If you haven't been watching the show for a while, please check out episode 15-17. Lex Luthor and Red Daughter.

I did watch episode 15, and I was delighted with the Lex Luthor portrayal. John Cryer is the perfectly evil yet charming and completely heartless and diabolical Lex Luthor that we deserve. Looking forward to the next 2 episodes with the Russian Supergirl working for Lex.

The scenes without Lex were OK, albeit very busy and jammed up. Jonz'z gave up his ridiculous "man of peace" thing, given he could get a lot of people killed to protect his honor. That seemed fitting.

I have no idea what's been going on during most of Season 4, but I don't think it matters given the new Lex Luthor arc.

Thanks!  I've been ignoring move of the CW shows, and I needed to know this was out!

Are there any ss-scenes in this episodes or others in s04? If so could someone point out where? Have given up on the show but always look for strength feats

The only appearance of SG that I can remember in 4x15 was showing up floating in air at the end. The show wasn't about Supergirl this week.

But lots of Kara being Kara, if you like that. And the stupid "Alex doesn't know that Supergirl is Kara" thing. That is just weird.

The only reason to watch this episode is Lex Luthor, who is brilliant.

There was some really interesting directing in 4x15, especially toward the end. The sound track and the lasers as he exited Lena's house was so classically Lex Luthor, at least given my comics-driven image of him, that I laughed with joy. Perfectly over the top in a Lex Luthor way.

Turns out that this was the first episode of Supergirl that Tawnia McKiernan directed, and she's completely amazing. She's directed a ton of TV episodes over the eyars, and she's also a great writer.

Not sure where to draw the lines and where to hand out credit between John Cryer's performance, the writing and the directing, but given that Cryer and McKiernan were both working the Supergirl show for the first time, and the excellence of Lex's scenes, I suspect there was some chemistry there. The writers were part of the usual team.

For the first time in seveal seasons, I'm really looking forward to the next episode. Tawnia won't be directing the next two, so we'll see how much her influence was on 4x15.

Whatever the case, the combination of Red Supergirl and Lex Luthor against everyone else might be a truly classic battle.

And now that Jon'zz has decided that he's not a man of peace cut from his father's mold, but rather a man who will do whatever he can to protect innocents and friends as he stops the violence around him (even if that takes violence), we might see him back in the fight.

I rewatched the Supergirl San Diego ComicCon panel discussion the other day, and it helped me define where the show was trying to go this season.

One strong observation is that Melissa is an incredibly charismatic young woman. She was a bit nervous in some of her earlier late night appearances, but she seemed to be more relaxed in San Diego. Didn't know that she and Chyler Leigh (Alex) are like sisters in real life.

I didn't think she was cast well for SG in the early seasons, mainly because she wasn't my idea of Supergirl, but she's come to own the role and she'll shape it going forward, wherever SG goes in TV or movies.

(And of course, Melissa is now marrying Chris Wood (Mon El), this cast is turning into more than a bunch of people working together. )

The other realization from the panel discussion is that one of the show's highest goals, maybe the highest of all, is their attempt to be relevant to current political and cultural/social trends. That has bugged me at times, given it's overdone and preachy and pedantic. It's not that I disagree with the messages, but that I didn't want to have to wade through  messaging like that in a show like this.

But I've now come to realization (after watching the panel discussion) that as a comic book show, whatever they do should be overdone. That's the comics. And since they are very serious about includilng as much politico-social commentary as they can squeeze into each show, that strangely makes it easier to swallow, given the show's comicbook sensibiity.

You could say I'm having a revival of my interest in the show.

I did the same in the later seasons of Smallville, which I had tuned out for many seasons, but enjoyed the later seasons.
