Superman's other daughters?

Superman's other daughters? was created by shadar
Need some opinions... Kal El has been a busy guy over the last twenty years. Here are images of his other daughters... anyone want to hazard a guess who the mother is of each one and what interesting powers they have?

I'm looking for ideas.

The idea is his daughters will all appear in future stories as characters, each with a spin on their mother and father's legacies, with thoughts from this group. All have some elements of Kryptonian and their mother's biology.

Possible more than one daughter from a single mother, and all mothers are characters from comic kingdoms, but can be any (DC, Marvel and anything else -- for instance, is green skin passed on?).

(NOTE: Some picts are NSFW!)

We should allow a device from the current comics -- gold K, which in this new incarnation of the mythos, temporarily eliminates a Kryptonian's powers. The comic only shows it as working for 15 seconds, but we should give Kal a little more time than that.

This would open up the pool of potential mates a lot... given they don't have to withstand the power that I described in the short story I posed to update yesterday.

However, it would still be tough for a non-superpowered mom to deal with raising a Kryptonian daughter, but not impossible. Still, one can envision the challenge of retrieving a 5-year old who has decided to go dancing across the surface of the Moon.

But then, perhaps slightly older sisters, even from different households, could help with that. (Would the various mom's know each other?)

Although I have to admit, sending a 10-year old to Mars to bring back her 5-year old half-sister would require an act of faith.

One can envision all kinds of "growing up super" kinds of challenges.

Nice to see a couple of Brunettes in the mix.

I think #5 looks like she could be Wonder Woman's daughter. I think she would be a wholesome force for justice in the world, who also happens to have very strong views about the place of men in society.

I think #8 could be Catwoman's daughter. For years she believed that Batman was her father, but when her Kryptonian powers emerged, she realized that her mother had had an affair with Superman. This has caused her to act out in ways that combine her mother's felonious skills with her father's incredible superpowers.

I felt the same way about #5... definitely has some of WW's looks, and given she would have been raised on Paradise Island, she'd think like an Amazon. Except she'd be more powerful than any Amazon every born, including her mother.

#8 for Catwoman... I hadn't considered that, but its perfect. Given her mother's personality and felonious tendencies, she'd definitely be playing her own games. But half Kryptonian genes. she could do things that her mother would never have dreamed of.

I know its not exactly right, but in the Otherworlds brief exploration of Lois and Clark's daughter, named Kara of course, she said that scientists believed her father's powers could be infinite, and as any student of math knows, half of infinity was still infinity.

I don't quite see it that way, but once someone has ten thousand times the strength of ordinary people or more, they might as well be infinitely strong.

If the strongest human women can grip something with about 70 pounds of force, then increasing that to 700,000 to 1,000,000 pounds essentially turns steel into a soft plastic substance, her fingers squishing into it like warm putty. The hardest rock turns to dust. Basically, you can't apply any greater strength.

#7 is a bit of a puzzle for me. I first thought... Powergirl. But that's too easy and other picts look more like her.

So what about She Hulk, minus the green skin (presumably a recessive trait to a number of Kryptonian genes)? Can't tell her height from this pict, but she could be 7' tall.

Also, most El women are blonde, so perhaps that's a more dominant trait than it is with humans and Kal passed it on.

If so, I wouldn't have wanted to be in the same county when Kal and her mother got it on. Talk about a major earthquake!

As far asher mother goes... clearly a red-head. We've got Mary Jane (that would piss off Peter) and Maxima as possibilities. There are other possibilities I'm sure...

And pict #2 was manip'd a bit, but not as extensively. I've always assumed that Krypts look like idealized or exaggerated humans. I also assume that a Kryptonian's eyes, given their heat vision, are larger and brighter than most humans.

If they're trying to blend in with a secret identity, then dulling contacts or sunglasses are going to help with the disguise.

Superman's physique is clearly outside human norms. And SG is generally, but not always drawn, in an idealized way, albeit not exaggerated. Of course, PG is always more than a bit inflated.

So, I figured that Kal El's daughters wouldn't be skinny or frail looking.

But that's my spin... your mileage may vary.

i know this concept has recently made its way into vogue, but the idea of a planet of Kryptonians orbiting our sun destroys one of the essential qualities... their extreme scarcity.

In fact, by creating all these daughters (obviously Kal's attempt to repopulate his race) I'm already in danger of having too many. Only by virtue of them having different mothers, different degrees of power and different mindsets and concepts of right and wrong does this become interesting to me.

I love to explore the interface and boundaries between human and Kryptonians (or Velorians).

Another redheaded option would be Poison Ivy.

In 'Hush', Poison Ivy briefly enslaved Superman with Kryptonite-laced lipstick. Who knows what she might have gotten up to in that time?

Interesting... a daughter who was definitely not part of the plan, and unknown to Supes until he runs into her 20 years later.

She'd be a hell of an adversary if she combined her mother's knowledge of hallucinogenic toxins and some Kryptonian powers.

Her long hair could be her ultimate weapon, given its Kryptonian strong and unbreakable. A single strand, stretched between her fingers until it was micro-thin, would be able to slice through someone steel and rock, not to mention flesh, leaving a cut line that was too thin to see with the naked eye.

Or wrapping a thick bundle of her hair around a super-power adversary's neck to choke them.

Or use it as a whip, the ends flailing at supersonic speed.

Lots of possibilities for invulnerable hair that is that long. Especially if she's trying to live up to her mother's criminal reputation.

IMHO Velorians always sounded like Kriptonians with gold related weakness and they were kinda disapointing to me.

Anyway, the idea sounds okay, but I don't see Clark doing this kind of work, how about Luthor collecting some of his super seed from a fake Lois Lane version, or from Superwoman, the Earth 3 Wonder Woman (which secretly is Lois Lane)? That could work...

I've always liked the idea that Clark thinks and feels like a human at the core given he was human-raised. Which means he'll undergo changes in attitude as he gets older, and he'll struggle with some of the same issues as any other aging human. That will include issues with failed relationships. Given his long life, he's going to be involved in a series of relationships over time, maybe even several marriages.

He's also a man who knows his race is on its last legs. (I don't buy into the New Krypton concept of hundreds of thousand of Kryptonians out there -- ruins the whole concept). Long life, even for a Kryptonian, isn't guaranteed. He doesn't want his unique genetic heritage to disappear. So he'll spread his seed around as best he can, hoping to keep a much of Krypton alive as possible.

Kara obviously has to play a role in this, given she's the last Kryptonian female, but with gold K or other tweaks, she's not the only potential mate for him.

Bottom line, he doesn't live his entire life as a Boy Scout. I like to think he's a lot more complex than that.

We saw the first glimmer of that in Superman Returns. Lois is married to someone else, she never was married to Clark, but she had Clark's baby. This is just the beginning of Clark living a human and imperfect life.

I don't know what the current status of Legion of Super-Heroes continuity is, but there's always the possibility of Superman having sown some wild oats in the 30th Century.

#3 could be Dream Girl's daughter and #4 could be Saturn Girl's daughter.

Adding psychic powers to Kryptonian powers could create a great force for good, or a nightmare of epic proportions. Not only is she invulnerable and super strong, but she can turn your brain inside out and make you beg her for death.

Now would the powers from the mother side be less, equal or greater than the mothers powers. I always thought it would be greater if they got part of the mothers powers because the Kryptonian power source would fuel it. That is also assuming that the daughter got dad full ability of being powered up from the sun. If she only got half of his power up ability, then it could be equal or less.

Two votes for Catwoman for #8. Medusa or Poison Ivy for #2.

Medusa works better to explain the hair. But I'm kind of fond of her as a villain who preys on other superhumans. Poison Ivy would have trained her daughter well.

A list of possible candidates based on hte moment

DC universe

1) Kristine "Superwoman" Wells

2) Maxima seem the most likely to me, but Poison Ivy and Knockout are also interesting possibilities

3) I don't know why but this one reminds me of Encatadora

4) Her look screams Power girl

5) Definitly Wonder Woman, period

6) Nubia is the first that came to my mind

7) Artemis maybe

8) Catwoman can be a good choice here, otherwise Zatanna or Huntress

Marvel universe

1) Polaris, maybe

2) Jean Grey or the Black Widow

3) Dazzler

4) Sue Richards

5) Honestly don't know

6) Storm

7) Carol "Warbird" Danvers

8) Rogue

Carol "Warbird" Danvers / Ms Marvel would be interesting with her energy absorbing power of the last couple years. At first during sex Superman would man handle her. By the end of the night would she leave him weak as a kitten.

Great suggestions so far... one thing that Raa mentioned, about Carol Danvers and Supes, got me thinking that I should include a flashback mechanism (somehow) that deals with Supes encounter with their mothers.

Carol Danvers example is a good one... at first Supes would hold all the cards, but by the end of a night of lovemaking, he'd be drained and she'd have all the power. A dramatic night to say the least. Although finding she's pregnant a month later would be a shock.

So far, my favorite suggestions for mothers are:

1) velorian.org/dau1.jpg (Kristine Wells)

2) velorian.org/dau2.jpg (Poison Ivy)

3) velorian.org/dau3.jpg (Dazzler)

4) velorian.org/dau4.jpg (Power Girl, of course)

5) velorian.org/dau5.jpg (WW)

6) velorian.org/dau6.jpg (Nubia)

7) velorian.org/dau7.jpg (Carol Danvers or She Hulk)

8) velorian.org/dau8.jpg (Catwoman)

Note that we have not include Supergirl (an obviously compatible mate, physically at least) and Maxima, who not only has been pursuing Kal, but would love to make babies with him.

So I add two more:

9) velorian.org/dau9.jpg (Kara's daughter having a bad day... clearly there wasn't enough indestructible Kryptonian fabric for her costume, but the girl beneath is pure Kryptonian.

10) velorian.org/dau10.jpg (Maxima's daughter, who has all her attitude.)

Any other thoughts before I start sketching out their backstories?

Of course, we could also go further afield in search of an interesting crossover... how about Supes and Lara Croft?

Their daughter, who is the spitting image of her mother, is shown here while stopping a hypersonic rail gun projectile, which could normally punch through both sides of a battleship and a hundred feet of reinforced concrete without even slowing down.

Obviously, stopping a rail gun is far more a Kryptonian skill than a Lara Croft skill -- apparently she got a really big dose of Krypt genes, and they went to the right places.

Any super-Lara Croft fans out there?

Well, if you ask me there are some factors to keep in mind:

1) which version of Superman you'll use (golden age, silver, post-crisis), this will set his power level and vulnerabilities and so the possible vulnerabilities of his daughters

2) why are they all females? I know that this is a stupid question considering the forum. A possible explanation could be that in the kryptonian race the sex is determined by the mother's cromosomes rather than father's like in humans

3) what happened to the big blue boy scout?

4) I assume that all of this will happen in a sort of shared universe so using character from both sides of the comicdom is not a problem

Twins or triplets... very possible.

Reason for one child per mother was initially so I could get a feeling for what 'matchups' were fun. Each daughter and her mother will have their own story, different from each other. But I could easily add a few twins or trips in.

And Supes isn't being capricious about all this... he knows that his children are going to have to interbreed to keep the race going. There are no other Kryptonians. So he wants to introduce as much diversity as possible and have enough daughters to ensure survival of the race. So the more mothers the better.

I thought of this after reading an article the other day about his guy in Denmark whose sperm has been purchased (via sperm banks) by more women than any other. Single women, married women whose husbands aren't potent, lesbian couples, widows, etc. etc....the list of mothers goes on and on. Presumably this guy's bio is pretty interesting to put his sperm in such demand. If I recall, he had hundreds of children, but had no idea who they were.

Anyway, the children of Sperm Donor 3001, who only know their father only by that number, are getting together and finding they share many traits. Several of the children had set up a registry to find all the other Donor 3001 kids, and they were considering a grand 'family' reunion of just the kids.

So my thought was to start my story with all of Superman's daughters getting together to compare notes. Many of them have never met each other, given many of them didn't surface in the public until their late teens or twenties. Their mothers aren't invited, nor is Supes himself, just a bunch of very special young women in their 20's who share some, or all, of Superman's powers.

They spend a week on this remote resort trying to figure out who has what abilities, who can do what, how each was raised, their mother's stories, trying to team up or not, etc.

Of course, some of them aren't fighting on the side of Truth, Justice and the American Way, so that makes the get-together a bit dicey.

Things go totally crazy when Darkseid (the ultimate DC villain) decides this is his chance to wipe out Superman's offspring in one fell swoop. Somehow the attack is foiled, which serves to make him an instant target for ten very pissed-off supergirls. They know he's out gunning for them now, so getting him first is a priority.

But Darkseid has been playing around with Kryptonian genetics for a long time, creating beings who have super powers and who either protect him, or serve as his soldiers. So taking him down is not going to be easy.

As far as the question on all daughters and no sons... perhaps that's determined by the father, and Kal has tweaked himself to make sure only daughters are born.

However, that would make him even less of a Boy Scout than we already feare. I mean, who is going to father the next generation except him? With is daughters?

To prevent trashing his reputation even further, I would propose that there are two sons born of different mothers yet out there, and we'll meet them in the story.

Talk about lucky guys... not only for having Superman for a father, but now they meet all their half-sisters, and everyone knows well that the Kryptonian race has to multiply and they are the only guys who have the "moxie" to do it.

Given the purity of Kryptonian DNA, plus the diversity of different mothers, the effects of inbreeding between half sisters and half brothers would be reduced.

Still, its a pretty weird social structure. But one that could contain some fun stories.
