Batman v Superman needs a rename

Batman v Superman needs a rename was created by shadar
OK, the movie is called Batman v Superman. But look at this magazine cover for the ComicCon season... took me a moment to even realize that Batman and Superman were in the picture.

If this is some kind of official press release image, then they need to rename the movie: Wonder Woman and a Couple of Dudes.

Wonder if this means anything as to how the movie will be edited and promoted? If so, I'm in.

The pose (especially the stare) is a little more supermodel than superhero, but it's certainly captivating.

EW has a brief, unrevealing interview with Gadot inside that issue. She auditioned not knowing that she was trying out for the iconic role, and read a scene from, of all things, Pulp Fiction.

Not uncommon at all, a lot of films are cast when there is not a working script to be had, some scripts are written for certain actors but when they are not available then they need to rewrite to be more adaptable for other actors.

I have to say that she has not bulked up at all, she has kept her "skinny model" figure, I’m not looking forward to the film.

Except for wishful thinking, did we really think she'd change her look? Tone up, sure, but that wasn't an issue to begin with. She was cast skinny and she makes her living being skinny, so she's not going to change that for a role.

I still think they are going to cover her from head to toe in a costume that has fake muscles. The traditional type costume we see in this promo image (arms, legs, shoulders bare) is just to whip up the fanboys at the ComicCons.

Of course, if we're really lucky, I'm going to be proven totally, absolutely wrong. That will make me happy. But I'm prepared to be sad.

By the way, did you catch in the interview with Melissa Benoit the other day when she was talking about wearing her SG costume the first time. She said it had fake muscles.

I think Gal is really even skinnier than shown.
I'm no expert but "air brushing" back in the day and "photoshopping" now are pretty common practices for magazine covers.

Wishful thinking on this thread i think. I am still guessing shes probably 15 minutes and maybe 1 1/2 action scenes. if shes has more it possible but thats my guess.

Though it did strike me that they may up her *promotion* do to another project. It is kind of amazing how much attention supergirl is getting as show, and featuring another DC heroine up close could be a way of getting that getting people excited for the movie-.

The diffrence is of course Supergirl so far seems to be delivering what it promises...while even if they wanted to BVSS was locked probabbly last year. So yeah.

Edit: By One and a Half, i mean i suspect shes is going to have one major fight agianst either Batman or Superman(probably superman but could be either) then do a little bit in the climax.

I suspect you are right, Castor. Regardless of anything else, Gal isn't a powerful screen presence. She can't carry a show on her shoulders the way Melissa Benoist appears to be. Cavill can't really either. Affleck can.

Gal is a supporting actress.

She'll get some screen time and we might enjoy it a lot. But she's not the movie.

The oddity was that this particular cover made her look like she was the main course and not just a side dish. I had a brief moment of exhilaration before reality set in. <grin>

THAT´S my main problem right there.

Every image they showed so far doesn´t give any sense of Power or even a Royal look. It´s the complete oposite of Faora for instance... Even in the pre-movie photos she looked terrifying, with a relentless presence and strenght.

Imagine if Faora had children and you threatened them? She'd level a city just to get to you.

Actually one of my thoughts about the movie today is this:

Wonder Woman is probabbly going to be the Faora of the movie.

Praise of the first movie was Scant, but a lot of it went to Faora and Ante Jajue performance-she really dominated every scene she was in and even more then Micheal Shannon came across as the real threat of the piece, as the bueatiful but icy cold and powerful woman who you get a sence of what she is about more from her presence and her regal smile

And i will say this Gal Gadot she has some of the same quality. Shes good in movies where she plays someone who is smiling maybe conceling a sence of danger in her. Shes not great in the Fast and the furious but there is something cold and in control in those movies even when she wearing a bikini. She has the same exotic but not quite sure where kind of accent the same kind of dark eyes. She really does look like her maybe a little more traditionally pretty but not much to.

I could see them wanting to put this kind of role in S vs B- it helps adds chaos to the story it helps set the mood and maybe gives the movie perhaps a sence of something going on. -and well repeats the one good thing from the movie had going for it(which is a little overstating it-the one thing people responded well to) .

But for faora This is helped becuse she more or less wins her battle with superman and also as it is much more closeup battle is simply visually more impressive then the latter battle where slugging agianst zod they just destroy a city. I think in the next week where probabbly going to see a little bit of Wonder Woman in action-and well will see.

And to well move into her own movie-cause in a kind of way if this is the idea-maybe its to give Faorra her own movie metaphorically-becuse more then anything i do think Warner Brothers really want s to go forward with that.

Though i am not sure thats the right impulse. What makes Faora effectove is that she is so ruthless-she is evil and is proud of that, more so then even zod who kind of projects in some scenes a little sympathy for earth and wishes he didn't have to do this- she wants to destroy the earth becuse its there and she supperor You couldn't imagine Faora hugging someone. And Wonder Woman hugs a lot of people. And that kind of approach downfall.

But i am intrested to see the movie-there does look to intresting ideas for a movie to explore-and while certainly its going to be a big monster at the end for all the heroes to fight....yeah intrigued.

For those of you thinking that Wonder Woman will have a big role in the BM v SM movie, I think you are dreaming. I think her role will probably be on par with Black Widow's role in Iron Man 2, if that.

Oh, and is anyone else sick of all the negativity surrounding Gal Gadot's casting? I mean, geez, I share some of the concerns about her skinniness but I don't feel the need to dwell on it constantly. It's taken several decades for Wonder Woman to make it to the big screen and all we, as a community, seem to do is whine and complain about the woman who was cast. I really doubt that Zach Snyder is going to make WW look bad. Say what you want about his story telling abilities but a Zach Snyder movie will always bring the visuals.

I think that's what we are saying... that her role is probably just a few scenes, one with strong action, the other not. Likely very much like Black Widow. (And yes, the casting for Black Widow was awful too -- Scarlett has the body shape of a couch potato with boobs).

But WW *SHOULD* be a far, FAR more dramatic character than Black Widow (who after all, is just human). Diana is a goddess. The kind of person who changes the ambiance of an entire room when she walks in, even when dressed in civvies. One look fires up that "god gene" that we seem to be born with. Tall, powerful, magnetic, mesmerizing and intimidating, not to mention sexy, all at the same time. Those brilliant blue eyes and the way she looks at men will cause most to melt. She's not one of us, and that would be instantly obvious to everyone she met.

Or course no human is going to command that kind of presence, but there are actresses who, with proper direction, camera angles, lighting, etc. etc. could come off that way on screen. Gal Gadot just isn't one of them. I have no doubt that Snyder will do his best, and it will be a great visual effort, but there are limits to what he can do with her. Those limits could have been much different with (a small handful) of other actresses.

The goal should be to put enough collective pressure on Snyder and company so the studio will rethink its contract with her for the WW movie. I mean, if there was a Black Widow movie, could someone other than Scarlett play the role? Of course. Lots of actresses could do it far better.

An example of doing it right is Antie Traue for Faora. She owns the role. Everything about her characterization screams badass man-slaughtering super-soldier uberbitch who can tear an Abrams tank apart with her bare hands and kick Superman's ass. Two minutes on the screen and you know it.

Gal looks like her primary power would be seduction.Yet she's supposed to be a supreme warrior goddess who can fight Superman to a standstill. And tear apart Abrams tanks with her bare hands. Not just look good in lingerie.

So yeah, the bitching will continue.

Really? A "couch potato with boobs"? Are you serious? I find Scarlett as Black Widow incredibly sexy. To each their own I guess...

But WW *SHOULD* be a far, FAR more dramatic character than Black Widow (who after all, is just human). Diana is a goddess. I think we can all agree on this.

How do you know "Gal Gadot just isn't one of them"? Were you there at her audition? Obviously Snyder and the other people doing the casting saw something in her that made them believe she could play the role. I'm somewhat skeptical of her abilities myself but blanket statements like these weaken the detractors arguments. How about we just see how she does when the movie is released?

The goal should be to put enough collective pressure on Snyder and company so the studio will rethink its contract with her for the WW movie. I mean, if there was a Black Widow movie, could someone other than Scarlett play the role? Of course. Lots of actresses could do it far better.

Sorry, a recasting of Wonder Woman is not happening as her solo movie starts shooting this fall, before BM v SM is released next March. Better to focus your efforts elsewhere.

An example of doing it right is Antie Traue for Faora. She owns the role. Everything about her characterization screams badass man-slaughtering super-soldier uberbitch who can tear an Abrams tank apart with her bare hands and kick Superman's ass. Two minutes on the screen and you know it.

And who was it that made Faora look so badass? Oh, that's right! It was Snyder.

Gal looks like her primary power would be seduction.Yet she's supposed to be a supreme warrior goddess who can fight Superman to a standstill. And tear apart Abrams tanks with her bare hands. Not just look good in lingerie.

So Snyder can make Faora look good in MOS but he is out of luck with Gadot? Again, how about we wait until the movie is released and we see for ourselves.

So yeah, the bitching will continue.

This is the internet so I have no doubt this is true.

I don't disagree that Scarlett was sexy. I really like her as an actress. She can be incredibly hot.

But she doesn't have the physique of someone with the physical skills that she portrays. A person who is trained at the ultimate peak of human physical limits should at least look athletic. Scarlett is moderately fit, but pretty soft around the edges.

Nikki was great. Superstring and unbound from morality. She would put her heel through someone's skull.

We need more superstong females who aren't afraid of killing people who needs killing. On screen, that is. Not because they are cruel or like hurting people, but because the bad guy is a menace to society, and always will be if he lives.

Here's my Photoshop revision of the recent magazine cover for the upcoming movie. I've fleshed out Wonder Woman a bit and made her taller. This is more or less how I first saw this image, in my mind's eye at least.

There is some suggestion in the trailer that she's going to be the peacemaker between Batman and Superman, who are fighting each other in the movie. This image suggests that theme. Not sure if she kicks both their butts, or finds some way to get them to all work together.

In any case, this is fodder for the imagination, if nothing else.

They're back filming on location in Chicago this week. Scenes that place in both Metropolis and Gotham City. Filming in Chicago on Twitter has the pics. They did a lot of filming here last year as well for Batman vs Superman.

Some people think they're really filming scenes for Suicide Squad instead.
