I loved the story arc in the comics, so I hope the movie is good.  Since  Taika Waititi  is directing again, should we assume it's going to be as funny as Ragnarok was?

I sure hope so. Asgardians are unintentionally funny in several ways, as is The Hulk, so I’m always up for more Ragarok style humor.

I too am fully on board for this.

Thor Ragnarok might be my favorite Marvel movie (it's certainly in the running for most enjoyable to rewatch). It's not the most serious one but it's fun from start to finish.

I'm exepecting some turns to the Jane Foster Thor from the comics, but that's normal for the MCU.  The comic arc was pretty damn good.  (I'm sad to see her not being Thor, at least she's the new Valkyrie ... albeit one with her own powers etc and she's just been passed the burden of being Valkyrie.  Has promise)

The first turn from what I can gather is, she won't be refered to as "Lady Thor".

Instead, her title will be "Mighty Thor".

Tbh, makes no real difference to me.  Looking forward to it all the same :)

Peace.

I wonder if Jane Foster being Thor ends up being the next Thor and we see Chris Hemsworth Thor end up being unworthy during Love and Thunder. I also wonder if Jane Foster becomes the love interest to Valkyrie meaning she is the Queen. I doubt he dies at this point because he is in Guardians 3 along with Thor 4.

From what I can gather, the story will indeed be that Thor is deemed "unworthy".  Moljnir is *somehow* reformed, but he is not worthy to wield it.

Thus Jane becomes "Thor".

Weather they will go with the "cancer" storyline and *spoilers* kill off Jane by the end of the film is another matter.  Might be too heavy for a Disney family film, but who knows.

While the run didn't sell well, to me, the story was an interesting take.  For those that don't know, Jane suffers from, breast cancer I believe.  Been a while so can't recall it all.  Anyway, when she becomes Thor, it destroys the kemo she is receiving, and as such, is actually killing herself every time she transforms.  However, she feels compelled to do good and be a hero.  In the end, she passes away in "Real" Thor's arms.

Through the power of comics though, she is resurrected, and hands the mantle of Thor, back to Odinson, being unable to cope with having to dash off and save people all the time.

Like I said, its been a while, but I think thats the jist of it.

I also wonder if Jane Foster becomes the love interest to Valkyrie meaning she is the Queen.

While I wouldn't put it past them to do this, Marvel so far sticks to the main bullet points of its characters.  Jane Foster being without Thor is like MJ without Spiderman.  Or Lois Lane without Superman.

They are the perfect match, and as such I don't think Marvel will deviate from this.  They risk losing a LOT if they do.

Valkyrie will just have to make do with another character :)

Just my thoughts :)

Peace.

For most of the run Jane Foster's Thor outsold the previous Thor's numbers.  (I spot checked it a few times during that time period, though I haven't comiled a complete list or checked the last few issues, .I just compared some months awhile back.) It didn't do smashingly better, but it didn't do worse.  And it is a great read.

For a bit more clarity, the events take place in Thor 705/706 (in case someone wants to read them).

Jane turns into Thor (once again ruining her treatments), and in the end turns back into Jane after Mjolnir is destroyed and "dies", 705 ends with Thor holding her body.

In 706, Odin visits her standing at the gates of Valhalla refusing to enter and she says "I'm not done yet".  Odin pops back into reality and tries to revive her and she wakes up.  So she's "dead" for only part of an issue.  In comic book land I'm not sure this counts.

She also gave up being Thor because no more Mjolnir.  She goes off and goes through her cancer treatments and actually gets better.  She doesn't give it up being "unable to cope".  I dont' remember her passing the mantle back,  really Thor's the one who blessed her using the name (She didn't use it herself until after he said it was ok.) so he could just take it back when he wanted.  I mean it's his own damn name.

At the end of War of the Realms, there is a barrier that if someone other than 'thor' crosses it, Thor's parents will die.  Jane, current THor, a young thor, and and aged King Thor all cross the boundry ... proving that mystically Jane was "Thor".  (I guess Aaron felt he had to hammer that point home.)  But it also appears to be the marker for the last time she's Thor.  Previous issues had said she would be Thor again at some point, and it _might_ be that this was it...... or maybe not. (Thor's daughters from the future visted Jane during her cancer treatments and one of them let on that she was going to be Thor again but was quickly shut up...)

That issue is also pretty good ... the War of th Realms in other books is kinda "meh"... but the mainline story and Thor books it's fantastic. It's been brewing for years (longer than the entire run of Jane Foster's Thor books).   And the last story is pretty damn good.

To muddy this a bit, in the comics Jane is now Valkyrie (though with different powers, we'll know more when #1 ships).  And the movie Valkyrie appeared in Exiles and was indeed a lesbian .... though Jane is not.  Jane did make it clear that she didn't want to date Thor though.  Maybe the current more mature Thor might change her mind though.  They're still really close friends though.

Valkyrie #1 came out today.  It’s pretty good for a first issue.   We’re starting to see her powerset.

a quote is something like “Thor is a title.  Valkyrie is a job.”

Jane is having problems balancing her life — I don’t know how someone could be a superhero and a doctor at the same time.
