... I just... just can't get over how her face as She-Ra is just drawn way too poorly for my taste; she actually looks more feminine as Adora.

I notice there's no mention of He-Man in the trailer.  Looks like this time She-Ra will be the main event.

I always wanted to see Adam hand Adora her sword and say 'just hold it up, and say this...'

'Wh...What? That sounds ridiculous!! "

 "Just try it sis"

"Umm...ok...what was it again?..FOR THE HONOUR OF"
and a legend is born. Pity she never got her own movie like him

That's not actually that different from the origin of Mary Marvel in Wow comics.  I hope they put Mary in a movie or TV show.  I figured she'd be a shoo-in for at least one guest appearance on Supergirl, but it hasn't happened yet

Not sure if people forgot about this or just stopped caring.

But hey, the show is out and is actually decent.

It's not an action show, so don't expect She-Ra to do a lot of ass kicking. Interesting thing I didn't notice in the trailers is that She-Ra is pretty darn big.

i miss the old show and animation but this isn't bad.  Especially well done is the relationship between Catra and Adora.   Very well written dialog IMO.   The action is less than prior series and SheRa is almost depowered and on he same plane power-wise as the other princesses.   Still it's not bad and worth catching if you were a fan of eh old show.

So if she is depowered, what makes her the superheroine in this version?

when I mean depowered, I mean two fold:

1.  Her strength and power are not showcased like in the first series and she doesn't seem nearly as powerful
2.  The other princesses are spotlighted just as much as her at different times.  It's not SheRa vs the Horde as much as in the previous series but SheRa and friends

she definitely is super strong and the leader of the rebellion so that clearly makes her a superheroine.

What? How many episodes did you get through dear?

I watched the first four and thought Adora was already very strong compared to her 80's counterpart and the sword of power gave her a massive buff, pun intended considering the things she sliced and ripped up.

Sure, she's not lifting mountains yet but I wouldn't say she's de-powered. More like showing off less save for a scene in an episode which I thought was cute.

I agree that Catra and Adora is the best part of the show. Kinda wish they went more into the relationship between Adora and Shadow Weaver a bit more. Felt like they wanted to show that SW actually cares for Adora like a mother.

Dunno about the strength, as I can't remember much from the original.
But I do agree that She-Ra doesn't feel that special. But that's because the other princesses feel really powerful, well Perfuma, the mermaid and the frost one at least.

The characters are likable, though not very interesting. Feels like the show would have benefited from being longer, so it had some time to flesh out the characters.

Also wish they made the horde feel more like a threat.

ive seen them all now, Mynn.   I can see where you're coming from especially after her first battle but  ......well, we'll talk after you see them all.

She isnt weak by any means, just not really showcased like it the old series.....

I finished the entire season and I see what you mean. No extreme super strength per se.

I've binge watched the first 4 episodes and so far I'm still not 100% sold on this. As much as I don't like the animation style, I appreciate that they tried to make the various characters as visually different as possible. The storyline looks good so far and the dialogues are quite funny... but there's one problem that I hope would be addressed at some point down the line: most people seem to forgive Adora a bit too fast.
It's not as bad as the old Secret of the Sword scene when she literally walks into the rebel camp with Adam and pretty much join the rebellion on the spot with nobody objecting, but still. So far the character that distrusted her the longest was Glimmer and even that last pretty much 2 episodes.

It's only a 13 episode season though which means very small distances between plot points.

Well, I've finished watching the series and I have to admit there a lot of stuff in it. A lot of good and a lot of bad.

The art style still don't match my tastes, although I have to praise that the development team was clearly trying to all the main characters a discinct silhouette without making some of the "visually busy". Also the transformation sequence does a great job at outlining the phisical differences between Adora and She-Ra.

Characterization is very hit or miss, often by the episode. It works with some bugs (some of the inside jokes are really a bit too much). Adora and Catra are pretty much the stars of show, with their relationship being the focus of most episodes and the main development arc alongside the friction between Glimmer and Queen Angella. Most of the Princesses outside the main cast have very one-note personalities, but I think that can bec excused given that this season was mostly worldbuilding. The one character that actually surprised me was Scorpia. The combination of this giant musclebound lady with claw, who could switch from nice and dim-witted to vicious on a moment notice really clicked and what little we discovered about her background really had a lot of potential. In many way she reminded me of a character from another '80s cartoon: Cindaar from Visionaries, big, strong, dim, ruthless, but not 100% evil.
