My belief is that thech is ever-evolving. To have a hand-held device with wolrd-knowing knowlage would make for a superpower 50 years ago. Now most of us don't think that is a big deal (with smartphones and internet). That means the boundaries is ever changing and our perseption of what is super. But... somethings will not happen with "body-worn" tech. becouce of law of physics and energy-requirements, e.g. the energy crisis may be not be solved for a long time.
Sidenote. If we intigrate ourselves with tech more, does it make us hackable?
Can make for intresting plots inwolving body-/mind-control.

Gonna be a long time/never/forever before reality can make a dent in comic book science. How exactly do you think comics, etc will adapt to comic-style technologies becoming more commonplace? I mean, for example, you have people and companies that are working on some minor forms of powered armor, and I read an article a little while ago about scientists producing a functional stem cell mouse embryo without a biological uterus. Since superhero stories kind of rely on those kinds of things being very uncommon, what impact do you think more advanced technology in the future will have on the genre?
But my mind will change the very first time I see an incredibly hot blonde girl wearing next to nothing dancing around giggling as she strikes some poses while someone unloads a few mags worth of FMJ on her with a full-auto assault rifle. You know, sensitive nipples and all.
That’s the point when they’ll have gotten the real world science just about right for me.
And then, the comics as we know them will be toast. And genre videos will become absolutely amazing with such models/actors.

In sci-fi the trick is not to focus on present day technology and science, but pushing the boundaries to think what it might become tomorrow. Comics book science is very similar, it often takes what looks like the next big thing and runs with it. In the 1940s many superheroes where created with chemicals, in the 60s it was radiations, today it's nanomachines. How exactly do you think comics, etc will adapt to comic-style technologies becoming more commonplace? You can wear a suit that gives the wearer incredible abilities, strength and agility during the course of a 24=hour game, but one shot from a super-powered fingered glove on target, then BAM! Game is PERMANENTLY over...

Still. What are people gonna do when computers and/or robots displace us humans from the workplace? :-P
What is free-time worth when you have nothing else?
