I think LFAN saw that he could only edit the story so much without hurting the story, so he broke it up into two parts.
Which begs the question, why are we having word limits on the big WS's? Or was this the short story WS.
In any event,, we're not playing for a 10 ten thousand dollar prize, i think it's fair and reasonable that if both stories combined get the total amount of votes....then that story should win

Im trying to write my response to this again after my first comment somehow didn’t get posted due to lost connection. My story was well over the 10,000 word limit (Give or take a few) In order for it to qualify I really had to do some butchering, including removing entire dream sequences.

There is two general reasons to why we have the word limit.
1) To limit the amount of time readers have to spend on reading through all the submissions,
2) To hopefully inspire some writers by saying there is an upper limit.
That second one might not work, as you guys are pointing out here, but we can revise it for next time, or just make it less of a rule, and more of a guideline.
hope that explains things.

It's not the first time an author submitted a multi-part story to a workshop. My story was well over the 10,000 word limit (Give or take a few) In order for it to qualify I really had to do some butchering, including removing entire dream sequences.

In general, the decision to implement a word-limit even on some of the long-format entries was to prevent the appearences of behemoth-sized stories that require too much time to read to give them or the other entries a fair chance.

I was open in the discord thread that it was going to be too long but it was suggested to break it up. Not my ideal scenario, but I left that to TPTB.
It wasn’t my intention to create controversy. Not looking for accolades other than a few people saying they enjoyed it.
