Autumn 2023 Workshop is a go!
Go Back to School!
- All characters involved are 18 or above (especially of things get spicy).
- You can submit more than one story for this workshop. All stories should be originally written for this workshop, or not having been posted anywhere else before the start of this workshop.
- There is no hard word limit, but we encourage for all stories to be at least 1.000 words long.
- The Admin team have full discretion to veto a story for any reason (though mostly if a story doesn’t fit the theme of the workshop).

It is about a semi-retired Protector (Michelle) who is recovering from injuries after fighting Primes, and she's looking for a quiet place to settle down away from the war. The locals talk her into teaching a hands-on workshop in Velorian Culture at the local University. On this planet, nobody had ever heard of Velorians before Michelle arrived.
She quickly becomes a sensation among her students, given her belief is that you can't understand Velorian Culture without first understanding Velorians. The last is proving to be quite exciting for her students.
And then in the middle of that, the Kintzi arrive. They are murderous humanoid half Arion, half Tiger genetically-engineered monsters that I'm recycling from the Old AU. Kintzi think humans taste indescribably delicious, and given that bullets just bounce from their yellow-furred skin, and they are incredibly strong as well as the ultimate feline hunters, they are indescribably dangerous too. They target Michelle and her students in an attempt to eliminate all knowledge and presence of Velorians from the planet.
Not sure yet where the story will go from there...
Thanks for kicking off the Autumn workshop, and thanks for setting a minimum and not a maximum size. I seem incapable of writing short stories.

And yeah, we talked about a word limit, but ended up dropping it as it proved to be a problem for people in the past workshops,

Not that I'll definitely have time to write anything in the next month, but I've been wanting to get back to 21st Century Magic: Gotcha! for a while now, and it certainly meets the subject matter criteria.

It's no problem at all.Would adding a new chapter to a story that I submitted to a previous workshop 10+ years ago be acceptable for this?

I'd like to do a little head count to see have a rough estimate of the potential number of entries.
Can you please reply to this message to signal your participation?

I've been very busy with RL stuff the last week and the next, that I didn't expect, so my writing time has been minimal.
Sorry...

It's a shame to hear you guys not being able to meet the deadline, but I hope you two will still complete your projects for all of us to see!
Yup, I will. But I'm not talking hours or days late, but maybe a couple of weeks or so. So much for my planning and handling RL commitments. The older I get, the worse I get at staying on focus and on time.

Oh! Here I thought this would maybe take a few days or so.

Still something to look forward to. Honestly, seeing a new story from you is always a good thing, regardless of when it comes out.
