It looks and sounds similar to 'My Super-Ex.' Uma Thurman was really great in it, the plot wasn't. Ivan Reitman can carry the can and take the hit for My Super-Ex.

It actually sounds exactly like the plot of the awful Bewitched movie with Nicole Kidman and Will Ferrell. In that, Will Ferrell plays an actor doing a remake of the TV show, Bewitched. Looking for a "no name" actress for his lead, so he's not overshadowed, he accidentally hires an actual witch (Nicole Kidman) to play the witch on the show. Hilarity ensues (tm) and they end up falling in love.

And as bad as My Super Ex-Girlfriend was, I really wish that Bewitched was even half that good. It probably doesn't help that I can't stand Will Ferrell, but this was truly awful in every possible way. I really do regret having wasted my time watching it.

I know that in this forum there's a lot of hoping for certain things we like to see, but I don't see how anyone can watch the trailer and think this is in any way remotely like My Super Ex Girlfriend or Bewitched. She's an actress in a superhero movie who gets dumped by her costar and falls for a local on location. No powers, no magic. A cute actress who's occasionally seen in a costume, and that's it, just like the OP said. It's just a romcom.

Its a Hallmark movie - and just like one, it puts the entire film in the trailer.

Everything in that trailer says Monica is playing a superhero but not an ACTUAL superhero. Otherwise, it looks like a pretty paint-by-numbers romantic comedy or Hallmark Channel movie.
