Summer 2024 Workshop Announcement

2024 is an olympic year, so why shouldn't we celebrate it SWM style?

It's time to take a shot at the

SUPERGIRL OLYMPICS WORKSHOP

Superolympics

There is no limits of time, space or kind of event. You can go historical, present-day, far future, the only requirement is that our contestant perform at an adequately super level.

Aside from that the rules are pretty much the usual:

  1. All characters involved are 18 or above (especially of things get spicy).
  2. All entries have to be submitted with the [Summer 2024] tag by Friday, July 5th 2024 Friday, July 19th 2024 (there won't be any further delays).
  3. You can submit more than one story for this workshop. All stories should be originally written for this workshop, or not having been posted anywhere else before the start of this workshop.
  4. There is no hard word limit, but you should consider how much time you get.
  5. The superolympics com... err, the admin team have full discretion to veto a story for any reason (though mostly if a story doesn’t fit the theme of the workshop).

Autumn Workshop Results

Happy Halloween Maniacs

The result of this "first exam" are in and I'm really surprised of how it turned out.

I rarely saw a workshop with such polarising results.

First place for what I can only call a victory by landslide, we have

The Power of the Pencil by Rjjt456 and WriterAngel

Second place goes to the excellent

Back to College by Robolord

Third goes to the short and to the point

Final Exams and New Beginnings by Phantomrenegade

Fourth place to a bit of a classic take with

In a Town Outside a City by Doug

Fifth is the opening of what would hopefully be a long story

The Almond Queen by Barrister Cabbage

Last, but not least, the super-short and cruel

Syncopa's Revenge by NeodymeChrome

See you all next workshop and keep writing.

Autumn 2023 Workshop is a go!

It’s September, and summer is over.

Whether you are a normal student, teacher, or someone hiding a secret, it’s time to…

Go Back to School!

This workshop is for stories involving a (high-)school or college setting where a superpowered girl/woman is involved. Maybe one of the teachers are secretly the local savior of the city? Perhaps one of the students are more than just a regular exchange student that has come to learn? Or maybe someone ends up gaining superpowers!

In any case, here are the usual rules:

  1. All characters involved are 18 or above (especially of things get spicy).
  2. You can submit more than one story for this workshop. All stories should be originally written for this workshop, or not having been posted anywhere else before the start of this workshop.
  3. There is no hard word limit, but we encourage for all stories to be at least 1.000 words long.
  4. The Admin team have full discretion to veto a story for any reason (though mostly if a story doesn’t fit the theme of the workshop).

The final assignments are due for October 13th 2023, don't be late.

Spring 2023 Short Workshop

If knowledge is power... why in hell did you think it was a good idea to piss of a Librarian?
It doesn't matter, because now you have to deal with a

Librarian's Outrage

And the only way to make things right is to write like there is no tomorrow.

So, how did it come to this? Is the librarian super? Did a super piss her off? What lead to the super ending up in front of a furious librarian?

All these questions can help guide you through this workshop!

Here are the rules:

  1. This workshop has a 2K word limit. It’s fine if it goes a little above, but try and stay within the 2K limit.
  2. More than one entry per person is allowed, but try to be reasonable with the amount.
  3. The story should contain at least one angry librarian. Everything else is up to you!
  4. The admin team/Librarian can veto a story at their discretion if it doesn’t follow the general rules, or doesn’t adhere to the spirit of the site/workshop.
  5. The deadline is at March 31st 2023 at 23.59 GMT. As usual, the entries will go online on the following Sunday (April 2nd).

The Workshop is Over

The votes are in, the counting is over and, even after considering the idea of pooling together the votes for Zuperfriends 1 and 2, we have a definite winner:

In Dreams by DKC

Congratulations to get another notch into your belt.

As a personal note, I'm really happy that this pretty unusual workshop brought in a few new talents.

Happy writing to you all.

Autumn 2022 Workshop

Autumn is coming and it’s getting darker outside.

For ages, we have huddled together and told stories of the fantastic.

Of the arcane.

Of practitioners and guardians of magic.

Now... this power of our imagination is free!

Welcome to the Magic Unleashed - Ubergirl Style workshop.

You can craft any story.

It doesn't matter if your characters are practitioner of magic, champions empowered by the arcane or villains abusing it for their own gain. As long as it's magic everything is fair game.

  • Each entry MUST work around the theme.
  • No entry can be longer than 10,000 words (give or take a few).
  • All characters must be over the age of 18.
  • SWM reserves the right to withhold and/or disqualify submitted entries based on their sole discretion of the content.
  • Entries must be received no later than October 30th, 2022 at 11:59 pm GMT.
  • Once submitted, entries will be voted on by the SWM user via an online poll.
